"Although I am reluctant to give up, I can donate it, so that more people can understand the history of the Anti-Japanese War through physical objects, absorb the will to forge ahead, and give full play to its value." Recently, Shen Ailan, from Luzhou District, Changzhi City, donated the eiderdown sleeping bag left by her father-in-law Wang Huanting to the Changzhi Military Division. This is also the 94th piece of revolutionary cultural relics donated by the Changzhi Military Sub-district since it began to collect various revolutionary cultural relics.

The sleeping bag donated by Shen Ailan was given to her father-in-law Wang Huanting by a member of the US Army flight team during the Anti-Japanese War. In the early 40s of the last century, the Pacific War broke out, and the United States Volunteer Air Force (Flying Tigers) entered North China to fight against Japan. When the wounded US pilot arrived in Yan'an, due to the language barrier, the Chinese military personnel in charge of taking care of him could not effectively understand his demands. Wang Huanting, an intellectual youth and anti-Japanese veteran, temporarily became a translator and accompanied the US military pilot for a long time. When the US pilot who had recovered from his injuries returned to the unit, in order to thank Wang Huanting for taking care of him, he gave him the eiderdown sleeping bag he had brought with him. "My father-in-law has always been reluctant to use this sleeping bag, and it has always been treasured on the top of my closet, and I take it out to dry every two years. Before my father-in-law died, he told me to donate my sleeping bag, which can remind people of those beacon years. After my father-in-law died of illness, many relics were cremated with the old man, leaving this sleeping bag and a military coat. Shen Ailan said that this time she finally fulfilled her father-in-law's last wish.

Referring to the original intention of collecting revolutionary cultural relics, the relevant person in charge of the Changzhi Military Sub-district said that in order to accelerate the preparation for the construction of the Shanxi Revolutionary Military Museum, the provincial military region has stepped up the collection of "cultural relics, pictures and historical materials related to the history of the party's leadership of armed struggle in Shanxi and the history of national defense construction in New China" throughout the province. After receiving the task, the Changzhi Military Sub-district attached great importance to it, deployed and mobilized many times, refined the collection task, clarified the collection standards, procedures and donor certification requirements, closely followed the advantages of the old Red Army and the old eight roads in the jurisdiction, comprehensively sorted out the clues, and effectively and orderly promoted the solid development of the collection work.

In addition to individual donations, centralized donations are also one of the main sources of this collection of cultural relics.

At the beginning of August, under the coordination of the People's Armed Forces Department of the Tunliu District, the centralized donation ceremony of revolutionary cultural relics in the district was successfully held. Zhang Shubin, Peng Dongli, Mou Shupeng, Zhang Peng and others from Fengyi Town donated all 39 pieces of revolutionary cultural relics they had collected for many years to the military sub-district at one time.

Zhang Shubin is a veteran who has been engaged in grassroots armed work for a long time, and for more than 10 years, he has insisted on collecting revolutionary cultural relics at his own expense out of his feelings for the army and the memory of revolutionary martyrs. "When I went to the countryside to work, I found an old red flag with the words 'Chinese Workers and Peasants' Red Army marching north to resist Japan' being thrown in the corner of the wall at will. Zhang Shubin said that after collecting more, he specially arranged a room-sized "small exhibition hall" for everyone to visit for free.

At the ceremony, Zhang Shubin was a little reluctant to see the cultural relics he had treasured for many years being removed one by one, thinking that he was getting older and had limited energy, and there was no way to protect these cultural relics well, and donating them was the best destination for them.

In Changzi County, Han Huze, who was the director of the Beigaomiao Martyrs Cemetery, has been collecting historical materials and cultural relics of the Anti-Japanese War in Changzi County for many years, and this time he donated 10 cultural relics, one of which is particularly eye-catching. "In the past six years, in order to protect the common people, the eldest son independent regiment has fought to the death with the Japanese army again and again, and every time when combat effectiveness is most needed, the trumpet of the charge is sounded. As a military signal tool, the Charge plays an important role in the victory of the battle, representing the spirit of unity, courage and forging ahead. Han Hu said that through many inquiries and clues provided by old comrades, he found the "god" that had been baptized by war, and through doing work again and again, he collected this very precious cultural relic, and this charge was also the charge of the 28th Regiment of the 4th Column and 10th Brigade of the 772nd Regiment of the eldest son and the 772nd Regiment, and the commander was Han Jianguo.

The relevant person in charge of the Changzhi Military Division introduced: "The collection of cultural relics has a large time span and a wide geographical range, etc., on the basis of the preliminary survey, we carefully sort out the historical sites, relics, characters and other materials in the jurisdiction by meeting and communicating with red collectors, visiting the old sites of the Red Revolution, and researching the party history department, and collect and summarize relevant clues. ”

Since 2024, the district has focused on grasping the collection principle of "taking regional characteristics as the core and historical events as the main line", actively strengthened communication and docking with the Propaganda Department, Culture and Tourism Bureau, Party History Office, Military Volunteer Office, Retirement Bureau and other relevant units under its jurisdiction, and successively arranged special personnel to go deep into the counties and districts for on-site verification and collection for 4 times, and relied on in-depth research by militia company commanders, grid members and site administrators, etc., and achieved certain results.

Up to now, the Changzhi Military Sub-district has collected a total of 94 revolutionary cultural relics, 79 historical materials, and 379 pictures (photos). At present, except for the eiderdown sleeping bag donated to the Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army according to the donor's requirements, all other revolutionary cultural relics and historical materials have been donated to the Shanxi Revolutionary Military Museum free of charge.
