On September 17, sponsored by the Fujian Shipbuilding Culture Management Committee and jointly organized by the Fujian Shipbuilding Culture Research Institute, Fuzhou Majiang Naval War Memorial Hall and Mawei Shipbuilding Culture Research Association, the "Commemoration Ceremony for the 130th Anniversary of the First Sino-Japanese Naval Battle and the 140th Anniversary of the Jiashen Naval Battle" and the "Tribute to the Ancestors · Root-Seeking Tour" were held in Mawei, Fuzhou.
At 9 o'clock in the morning, in front of the Majiang Zhaozhong Ancestral Hall, the atmosphere was solemn and solemn. About 110 people, including representatives of the staff of the Fujian Shipbuilding Cultural System, representatives of the naval forces, descendants of the shipmasters on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, representatives of the co-construction schools of the Great Ideological and Political Education, experts in modern naval history, representatives of the Mawei Shipbuilding Culture Research Association, and other relevant associations and student representatives, solemnly went down the mountain to commemorate the souls of the heroes who bravely sacrificed their lives in the naval battle. What is striking is that the descendants of the First Sino-Japanese soldiers such as Deng Shichang, Ding Ruchang, and Lin Guoxiang are also among them.
As the main gate of the Zhaozhong Temple slowly opened, everyone slowly walked into the main hall of the Zhaozhong Temple with infinite sorrow for the martyrs, collectively mourned, presented flower baskets to the martyrs' tablets, recited the "Public Sacrifice Jiashen, Jiawu Naval Battle Heroic Martyrs' Sacrifice", and bowed three times.
Li Jinyi, a descendant of Liu Xiangzhong, a martyr of the First Sino-Japanese War, said: "My grandfather's name is Liu Xiangzhong, he heroically participated in the First Sino-Japanese Naval Battle, and as a sailor on the 'Zhiyuan' ship led by the national hero Deng Shichang, his heroic deeds are the supreme glory of our family. This honor inspires me, and I will uphold the legacy of my ancestors, study diligently, and inherit and carry forward the spirit of the First Sino-Japanese War with practical actions. ”
During the event, the organizer also presented the "List of Loyal and Brave Soldiers of the First Sino-Japanese Naval Battle of Majiang Zhaozhong Ancestral Hall" to the representatives of the descendants of the shipmaster.
Ding Changming, a descendant of the martyr Ding Ruchang, said: "Since 1840, the Chinese nation has gone through hardships and unswervingly pursued the road of national rejuvenation. Today's trip has made me deeply appreciate the memory of the martyrs and the far-reaching impact of their heroic deeds on future generations. I will bring back these impressions and feelings and share them with my family and friends, so that this precious spiritual legacy will continue to shine on our way forward. ”
After the public memorial, the descendants of the shipmaster also collectively visited the "Thousand Autumns of Blue Blood - Majiang Zhaozhong Temple History Exhibition" specially set up in the temporary exhibition hall of the China Shipbuilding Culture Museum. This exhibition introduces the origin and historical evolution of the Majiang Zhaozhong Ancestral Hall through four parts: Worthy of the National Martyrdom, Remembering the Loyal Soul and Shenwu Worship, Spiritual Sustainability of the Ancient Restoration, and Commemorating and Promoting the Mission, and the exhibition lasts for 3 months.
During the event, activities such as "Academic Sharing Meeting to Commemorate the 130th Anniversary of the First Sino-Japanese Naval War" and "Exploring the Naval Battle on the Map and Returning to the Historical Site" to commemorate the 130th Anniversary of the First Sino-Japanese Naval War were also held simultaneously.
The relevant person in charge of the Fujian Shipbuilding Culture Management Committee said that in the long history of more than 100 years, the Majiang Zhaozhong Temple carries the infinite admiration of generations of shipmasters for the heroes and martyrs of the navy! Protecting and inheriting the Majiang Zhaozhong Shrine is an important embodiment of respecting heroes, remembering the martyrs, and carrying forward the national spirit, and it is also a warning to the world to take history as a mirror, work hard, inherit the patriotic spirit of the martyrs and the grand plan of revitalizing China.
It is understood that the Majiang Zhaozhong Ancestral Hall, which enshrines the martyrs of the Jiashen and Jiawu battles, is the only shrine in the country to commemorate the martyrs of the modern navy, and has effectively witnessed the glorious history of modern China's unremitting struggle to become strong on the sea and seek national rejuvenation, and is known as the "spiritual holy land of the modern Chinese navy".
