The Egypt Air Force is considering the introduction of the L-15 trainer
With the possible introduction of J-10CE fighters by the Egypt Air Force, the export of domestic L-15 advanced trainer aircraft to Egypt is also a peak turn. Egypt revealed that it is seriously considering the next generation of trainers, with competitors including the European M346, Korea FA-50 and Chinese L-15.
The Egypt Air Force's current trainers include the Chinese K-8E and the European Alpha Jet, the former of which has been in service for nearly 25 years, and the latter has reached 40 years. The flight performance and avionics system performance are backward and can no longer meet the training requirements of the new generation of combat aircraft, so the Egypt Air Force hopes to introduce a new generation of trainer aircraft and train a new generation of combat aircraft pilots.
Egypt Air Force K-8E trainer aircraft
Previously, the Egypt Air Force's new generation of fighters was dominated by Western fighters, for example, the United States had proposed a plan to upgrade the existing F-16 fighters of the Egypt Air Force to the level of the F-16V, and the Egypt Air Force also purchased Rafale fighters from France. In this way, the supporting trainer aircraft can only be selected from Western trainer aircraft, so the new generation of trainer aircraft adopts an embedded training system to simulate the flight and combat status of combat aircraft to the greatest extent. Western aircraft manufacturers obviously cannot let Chinese or Russia trainer aircraft simulate these states, and are only willing to open relevant interfaces and parameters to Western trainer aircraft.
Egypt Air Force F-16 fighters do not have AIM-120
Previously, the Egypt Air Force once chose the Korea FA-50 trainer, and there was even news that Egypt may introduce a production line to assemble the FA-50 trainer in its own country. The FA-50 trainer is designed by Loma Company, and the avionics system is mostly from Western companies, so there is no technical obstacle to supporting F-16 and Rafale fighter training. However, the Egypt Air Force soon discovered that Western fighter jets were flashy, and Israel has been asking United States, France and other Western countries to reduce their performance when selling weapons to Egypt to ensure their own safety. For example, the F-16 fighter sold by the United States to the Egypt Air Force is not equipped with AIM-120 air-to-air missiles, and the Rafale fighters of the Egypt Air Force do not have Meteor air-to-air missiles. All this made the Egypt Air Force extremely dissatisfied and angry.
Rafale also does not give Meteor air-to-air missiles
This situation also led the Egypt Air Force to decide to introduce the Chinese J-10CE fighter, which is equipped with an advanced airborne active phased array fire control radar, PL-15E medium and long-range air-to-air missile, PL-10E combat air-to-air missile, and its combat capability is second only to the Israel Air Force's F-35I fighter in the Middle East. Therefore, after the Egypt Air Force obtains the J-10CE fighter, its combat capability will be greatly improved.
In this way, we have become a home advantage, and the Egypt Air Force's new generation of advanced trainer aircraft training pilots are mainly J-10CE fighters, then we can use "the way of others to govern their bodies", refusing to provide parameters and interfaces to Western trainers, so that M346, FA-50 simulation J-10CE fighters are inadequate. On the contrary, the self-use version of the domestic L-15 advanced trainer aircraft-JL-10 itself undertakes the training task of J-10C fighter pilots, which is more suitable for the use of the Egypt Air Force.
The PL-15E is the most desirable weapon of the Egypt Air Force
Previously, the U.A.E. Air Force had ordered a domestically produced L-15 advanced trainer aircraft for its air show team. If all goes well, the U.A.E. Air Force will continue to introduce 48 aircraft. The outside world believes that the U.A.E. Air Force's move should be in preparation for the possible introduction of Chinese J-31E stealth fighters in the future. If the Egypt Air Force introduces L-15 advanced trainers, it may not be lower than the U.A.E. Air Force. It should also be emphasized that the Egypt Air Force has also been seeking stealth fighters, so after purchasing the J-10CE fighter, it is very likely that they will also buy the Chinese J-31E stealth fighter.
