镜心 设色纸本 95.5×43.5 cm
Wang Yuanqi's "Pinggang Qu Stream" is a Qing Dynasty landscape painting with profound artistic charm and historical value.
Wang Yuanqi (1642-1715), whose name is Maojing, is a native of Taicang, Jiangsu, and is a famous scholar painter in the Qing Dynasty. He is one of the "Six Families of the Early Qing Dynasty", and is as famous as Wang Shimin, Wang Jian, Wang Hui, Wu Li, and Yun Shouping, and is collectively known as the "Four Kings Wu Yun". Wang Yuanqi inherited the learning of Dong Qichang and Wang Shimin, wantonly landscapes, leaders and groups, influenced later generations, formed the Loudong School, and influenced the Qing Dynasty painting circle for three hundred years.
"Pinggang Qujian" was written in the 42nd year of Kangxi (1703), and was written by Wang Yuanqi when he accompanied Hu from the south. During this period, Wang Yuanqi's painting style was quite mature, and he was deeply appreciated by Emperor Kangxi, and he had many works in the imperial court.
Pinggang Qujian is painted on ink and color on paper and measures 95.5×43.5 cm. The picture shows a flat hillside and a meandering stream. Between the heavy mountains and mountains, the meandering streams are diverted, the layout is fine but not broken, and the scenery is complex but not chaotic. The tree stone is covered with a faint green ochre, which appears bright and gentle, and it is a typical work of Wang Yuanqi to take the method of Huang Gongwang Qianjiang.
When Wang Yuanqi created this painting, because it was made in a boat, he had to obey orders at any time, so the brush and ink tended to be simple, reducing the rubbing, and making the texture of the environment more ethereal charm. His brushwork is exquisite, and the ink color is suitable, with both a pale color and a depressed atmosphere, showing the artistic skills of his pen and ink in his later years.
"Pinggang Qujian" not only represents the peak of Wang Yuanqi's personal artistic achievements, but also embodies the artistic style and aesthetic pursuit of the orthodox landscape painting of the Qing Dynasty. As one of the important works in the Qing Dynasty painting circle, it has important historical value for the study of the development process and artistic characteristics of Qing Dynasty landscape painting.
