Italy shipyard Apreamare's first semi-planing series Maestro 88 superyacht has just been launched. This 27.1-metre yacht is the flagship of the boutique shipyard in Naples, which has produced a Maestro series in the past and is currently known for its classic-looking Gozzo day boat range.
The launching ceremony was attended by the owner (a repeat customer from Italy under the Apreamare brand), his family, the Apreamare management, and the workers and suppliers who contributed to the project.
Great projects, like great stories, can emerge by chance from the passion and joyful intuition of the protagonist. The same is true for art or science, and the same is true for yachting. The creation of the Maestro collection is a vivid expression of this truth. Its origins can be traced back to a restaurant during the Genoa Boat Show in 2005, when the first sketches were drawn on a piece of paper.

The Maestro 88 is both a challenge and an honor for the shipyard, designer Marco Casali and engineer Umberto Tagliavini. The new flagship is a fully bespoke yacht with a semi-planing hull that maintains the family feel of the previous Maestro collection, but introduces innovative solutions and a new interpretation of style, form and livability, not only the pinnacle of technology, but also a deep understanding of the harmonious symbiosis of aesthetics and function, as is the case with the now iconic Gozzo collection (below).

The new series has the same trawler style as its sister boats, but with a semi-planing hull and optimised to face any sea conditions. The exterior was designed by Casali Tagliavini, a long-time collaborator of Apreamare. The exterior lines give great elegance and visual impact, constantly in dialogue with the interior, designed to experience the 360-degree sea. The project is "made in all Italy" and Apreamare utilized its "supply chain of suppliers and artisans from Campania" throughout the construction process.
The shipyard describes the new collection as "fully customized", with "surprising" interior volumes and the essence of the "Navian style", which not only enhances the yacht's seaworthiness, but also gives it the ease and autonomy to ride through the wind and waves. Key figures include a 7-metre wide hull, a draft of 1.8 metres and a displacement of 90 tonnes.

All this is in perfect harmony between the streamlined beauty of the exterior and the large living spaces inside, thanks to the sliding glass windows, the Maestro 88 has a strong connection to the sea through the aft deck, the bow lounge and the saloon. An 80 cm high balustrade at the bow adds to safety, and the yacht is also equipped with a sizable swim platform for direct access to the water.

The flybridge offers a lot of space dedicated to relaxation, with an elegant kitchen module and bar, and a T-shaped hard top with a light and attractive design stands out. The entire surface area of this section is covered with solar panels, which power the ship's onboard systems. For guests' entertainment or romantic getaways, the aft garage can accommodate a 4-metre tender and many water toys.

The interior offers good flexibility for the owner, with everything from the cabin to the furnishings customised. Hull 1 follows a four-cabin layout, with all cabins having ensuites, plus a "studio" with a lounge corner and an electric piano. A future version may replace the studio with a fifth cabin and further add two cabins for the crew of four.

The model can reach a maximum speed of 22 knots, and the cruising speed drops to 18 knots. Two 1,600 hp MAN engines will use more than 8,000 liters of fuel to travel 1,000 nautical miles at a speed of 1,000 knots. Weight and power are perfectly balanced for absolutely comfortable long-range cruising.
