Asking about the five major problems of age-friendly medical construction, Blue Vest will jointly transform 10+ age-friendly hospitals this year

On August 8, it was reported that at the 2024 China Age-Friendly Medical Development Seminar held in Beijing today, experts from academia and industry "inquired" about the construction of age-friendly medical care and prescribed a series of "prescriptions": "Improve software and hardware equipment, strengthen the team of medical staff, continue to advocate age-friendly culture", "empower medical care with science and technology, warm people's hearts with humanity, and build an age-friendly health service system"......

The survey results showed that due to the complexity of the medical treatment process, more than ninety percent of the elderly surveyed need to be accompanied, and more than half of the respondents believe that the construction of age-friendly hospitals needs to be improved. In response to the survey, the Blue Vest Action will promote the transformation of 10+ age-friendly hospitals across the country this year, hoping to gain in-depth insight into the needs of the elderly for medical treatment, explore the application of digital technologies such as AI in the construction of medical care for the elderly, and promote all sectors of society to work together to build an age-friendly medical environment.

The forum was guided by the Chinese Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics and the China Association of Aging Industry, and jointly organized by the Nandu Big Data Research Institute and the Ant Public Welfare Foundation.

Current situation: There are 5 major problems and 5 "needs" for the elderly to seek medical treatment, and nearly seventy percent of the elderly surveyed believe that the hospital guidelines are not clear

With the deepening of the aging process, the demand for medical and health services of the elderly population has also increased significantly. Since 2020, the National Health Commission has been promoting the creation of age-friendly medical institutions, and by the end of 2022, remarkable results have been achieved. However, with the diversification of the structure of the elderly population and the personalization of their needs, there is still room for improvement in the existing service capacity for the elderly, especially in key links such as medical treatment and medication, and the needs of the elderly have not been fully met.

Asking about the five major problems of age-friendly medical construction, Blue Vest will jointly transform 10+ age-friendly hospitals this year

What are the troubles of the elderly in seeking medical treatment? Hu Yong, a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University, has a deep understanding that in the past three years, taking care of his mother with Alzheimer's disease has taken up a lot of his time and energy, and his identity has changed, and he has lived a two-sided life as a professor at Peking University + a 24-hour caregiver. In his opinion, the elderly face five major problems in seeking medical treatment: they can't understand, they can't find it, they can't get through, they can't wait, and they can't live. There are many reasons for these problems, including the complexity of the hospital treatment process, the inability of the elderly to adapt to the new digital technology after the comprehensive informatization of the hospital, and the physiological and cognitive decline of the elderly.

At the meeting, Nandu Big Data Research Institute, China Aging Industry Association and Ant Public Welfare Foundation jointly released the "2024 Age-Friendly Medical Micro Transformation Demand Insight Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"), which surveyed more than 2,000 elderly people and summarized the "5" needs of the elderly in medical treatment.

According to the survey data, due to the complex medical treatment process, more than ninety percent (95.4%) of the interviewed elderly people need to be accompanied, and the accompanying people are mainly spouses (35.15%) and children (26.24%). Second, more than half (55.7%) of the respondents believe that the construction of age-friendly hospitals needs to be improved, specifically, the two key points with the highest voices of the elderly are that more than half (50.51%) of the interviewed elderly believe that manual services are not enough, and second, nearly seventy percent (68.95%) of the interviewed elderly believe that the hospital guidelines are not clear enough. Third, the popularization of smart medical services needs to strengthen family intergenerational communication, because family members may not teach functions commonly used by the elderly, for example, the elderly in the hospital commonly used outpatient payment, registration, plus and other functions The proportion of family members is low. Nearly sixty percent of the elderly interviewed called for the development of an elderly version of the hospital's online system, and nearly half of the family members surveyed hoped to add a one-click medical function. Fifth, the level of digital health literacy of the elderly needs to be improved, and the elderly are also willing to keep up with the times and learn new technologies and new knowledge.

However, it is worth noting that more than seventy percent of the elderly surveyed have been troubled by online marketing to induce them to buy drugs. During the investigation, Grandpa Yang, who suffers from pulmonary nodules, reported that when he searched for relevant medical knowledge on the Internet for treatment reference, he found that it was difficult to distinguish the truth from the false information on the Internet, and he had also listened to and used online "home remedies". "It is hoped that the relevant departments can standardize online consultations, filter out false information, and provide more high-quality Internet medical service resources." Grandpa Yang said. From this point of view, the popularization of medical science needs to be strengthened urgently.

Solution: The elders prescribed five "prescriptions" for age-friendly medical improvement, and more than half of the elderly interviewed suggested that professional medical social workers should go to the community

How to make medical care more warm and the elderly more "medical"? At the seminar, a number of academic and industry experts supported the construction of age-friendly medical care.

"In order to resolve these problems, in addition to the improvement of software and hardware, and the strengthening of the medical staff, I would like to emphasize that the hospital should continue to promote an age-friendly culture." Hu Yong appealed, he suggested, first, it is important to open a "green channel" for the elderly in hospitals, and second, to call for vigorously carrying out qualified family doctors or caregivers to serve the elderly, especially for the disabled and demented elderly.

"Age-friendly medical care is not only an innovation in the medical service model, but also a profound practice of human care and social responsibility." Liu Jingang, Secretary-General of the China Aging Industry Association, pointed out that on the one hand, it is necessary to actively introduce and apply advanced medical technology and equipment, strengthen the construction of medical informatization, and improve the intelligent level of medical services for the elderly. On the other hand, while paying attention to the physical health of the elderly, we should also pay attention to their mental health problems, strengthen the construction of the mental health service system, and provide more comprehensive health services for the elderly.

At the same time, making good use of technical capabilities is also the proper meaning of empowering age-friendly medical construction in the digital era. Han Jun, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics, pointed out at the seminar that in order to allow the elderly to have medical care and dependence, it is necessary to actively explore and apply modern scientific and technological means to create more health and well-being for the elderly. He proposed that with the help of artificial intelligence technology, more accurate and personalized medical services can be provided for the elderly, reducing medical costs, improving medical efficiency, and making the elderly feel more care and attention.

It is worth noting that in the report, the elderly put forward five "to" suggestions for the improvement of a friendly medical environment, which coincided with experts from all walks of life. First, nearly sixty percent of elderly respondents suggested that smart terminals should be simplified. Second, nearly seventy percent of the elderly hope that the guidance labels and medication instructions will be clearer; At the same time, because it is more common for the elderly to suffer from a variety of chronic diseases, more than seventy percent of the elderly interviewed hope to register once and see a variety of diseases, so that the "one-stop" medical services will be more popular; Fourth, more than seventy percent of the elderly suggested that manual services should be increased, among which it is particularly necessary in the operation of registration and smart equipment; Fifth, smart medical science popularization and medical assistance services for the elderly should enter the community. It is worth mentioning that when asked what other convenient medical services the elderly need to add, nearly sixty percent suggested the establishment of a popular science platform, and more than half suggested that professional medical social workers go into the community.

Pathfinding: Use "technology + service" to protect the "sunset red", starting from the "landmark", the blue vest helps the elderly "doctor" to smooth the road

According to the research group's research, the report summarizes 8 reference guidelines for the "micro-transformation" of age-friendly medical institutions. These include a more conspicuous entrance for the elderly and a more concise icon in the online medical system; Next to the offline smart medical terminal, provide more reference operation guidelines; Use clearer signage colors, more friendly ground guidance signs, safer and more comfortable landmark colors, and a more readable and understandable number of colors.

According to the whip bull, the Blue Vest Action Elderly Helping Team has referred to the above standards to carry out "micro-transformation" of "age-friendly" hospitals in a batch of 10+ hospitals such as Guangzhou Stomatological Hospital, Chengdu Seventh People's Hospital, and Hefei First People's Hospital.

Wang Yifei, director of the Management Committee of the Blue Vest Action Special Fund of Ant Charity Foundation, said that in addition to hardware upgrades, Blue Vest relies on Ant Group's technical capabilities to pilot the "Three Ones" integrated digital medical service in some hospitals. These include: 1 set of AI medical service product system, 100 episodes of health videos, 10 teams of digital experience officers, and the innovative construction of a new medical and health service system with full coverage in and out of the hospital and online and offline integration. "We have launched the 'Andiao'er' with intelligent guidance function, which allows patients to use 'AR guidance' to navigate directly to the desired department and complete a series of services such as registration, payment, and report viewing online. At the just-concluded WAIC conference, Alipay's smart assistant was also officially launched, and the elderly only need to move their mouths to easily realize a number of functions such as registration and buying medicine. In addition, the 'i Guardian' applet we released on the spot today has functions such as intelligent health monitoring and personalized AI health management reports. ”
