▲ We are half-brothers!
Hello World of Tanks players, while there are many different types of tanks in the game, some of them have very similar stats and gameplay, and can even be substituted for each other. Their existence often makes it difficult for players to choose between them, but it is this similarity that gives players more options. However, it also made the commanders guilty of "choosing difficulties" when choosing tanks, and even more commanders directly "I want them all"! In this article, we will take a look at a few pairs of tanks that can be called "half-brothers" to help players better understand the characteristics and usage scenarios of these tanks, and make the best choice in battle.
T-62A with Project 140
▲S series X-level medium tan often makes people a little "indistinguishable"
The vast majority of Tier X tanks are very distinctive, and there are usually not many of them that are close to each other, but some can be found. The two "brothers" of the T-62A and the 140 project have made many commanders difficult: they are both developed from the T-54, who should be chosen? This controversy did not gradually decline until the T-62A entered the "collection tank", but there are still commanders who are still struggling with whether to buy a T-62A to "replace" the 140 Project.
▲The depression angle of the 140 project is better
The main guns used in Project 140 and T-62A are exactly the same, and there are only slight differences in the fire data of the two. The stationary gun control of the T-62A is better than that of Project 140, but Project 140 is better at gun control on the move. In the previous 1.11 version, the Project 140 also received a full enhancement, with better depression angles and upper hull defense, which is also its main advantage over its old rival, the T-62A. The 7-degree gun depression angle of the Project 140 and thicker upper hull armor make it a better fit than the T-62A in the current version of standard combat. Project 140 stands out for being an "all-rounder", in which commanders can find the most standard medium tank gameplay, that is, the real "battlefield panacea".
WZ113G with 268 project
▲ The current 268 project needs more practice
The S-Series 268 is the oldest tank destroyer line in World of Tanks, and this line is also known as the most traditional tank destroyer line. However, with the change of the game environment and the addition of new cars, the X-class 268 project needs more practice if it wants to play a good record. Previously, the WZ113G and 268 projects of the C series were also called "difficult brothers", and the two X-class tank destroyers were often compared together.
▲The WZ113G before the reinforcement is really embarrassing
The WZ113G, which is known as the "fathead fish" because of its huge fighting compartment, is really embarrassing before it is strengthened. However, after the enhancement of version 1.22, the WZ113G's mobility, standard shell flight speed, gun reloading speed and gun accuracy have been improved, which makes the WZ113G directly reborn and become a non-negligible existence in the Tier X tank destroyer. Although it and Project 268 are 152 mm caliber single-shot main guns and fixed fighting compartment tank destroyers that maintain a certain defensive power, it is generally accepted that the WZ113G is superior.
P46 with Skoda T27
▲PM35/46
In the Tier VIII range, there are more similar tanks. Nicknamed the "Broken Chicken Head", the PM35/46 of the I series has obtained a very high upper limit for its powerful "autoloader" system, making it quite accessible to the people. For advanced players, it's an excellent medium tank that can be used to maneuver around the battlefield with its mobility.
▲Skoda T27
But it is precisely because the performance of PM35/46 is so good that another J-series Skoda T27 is in an awkward position. The Skoda T27 is quite close to the PM35/46 in terms of design positioning and various data, both of which are poorly defended and well-maneuverable medium tanks, and also have magazine/drum loading systems. It's just that the Skoda T27's 88mm gun is equipped with a 3-round magazine that can't be replenished at any time like the PM35/46's "autoloader", which makes it a loss.
M47钢铁阿诺与T26E4超级潘兴
▲T26E4 Super Pershing
The veteran T26E4 Super Pershing, which can be purchased directly with gold on the tech tree, is one of the veteran gold tanks in the game. Its turret and hull are covered with additional armor plates, which greatly increases the tank's defense, allowing the T26E4 Super Pershing to take a lot of damage in dynamic engagements. Although it is a medium tank, its survivability is no worse than that of a heavy tank.
▲M47 Steel Arnold
Like the T26E4 Super Pershing, the M47 Steel Arnold, which is also an M-series VIII Gold medium tank, can be said to be a "pseudo-heavy tank" in the new era. Like the T26E4 Super Pershing, although the M47 Steel Arnold is labeled "medium tank", it is completely a heavy tank, it is covered with additional armor plates of no low thickness, and with the original M47's gun shield and turret front thickness, the tank's defense is very good. But the M47 Steel Arnold's 105 gun is more powerful than the T26E4 Super Pershing, and the advantage of single shot damage and penetration depth makes it "the latecomer".
Scorpio with SU-130PM
▲ Scorpio
Another veteran who has performed well is the Scorpio of the D line. Its combination of high alpha damage, high penetration depth of the 128 gun, rotating turret, and high mobility makes it an enduring Tier VIII Gold tank destroyer. It's just that the Scorpion's defense is low, and its own concealment value is also poor, which makes it have to move cautiously. As a latecomer, the SU-130PM, because of its many similarities with the Scorpion, is also known as the "hairy scorpion".
▲SU-130PM
The SU-130PM also has a high-single-shot, high-penetration 130 gun, and the SU-130PM has a "turret"-like structure, its "turret" has a firing range of 77.5° to the left and right in the direction of the nose, and also has a 7° depression angle. The SU-130PM is also quite low in defense, and high-explosive shells act as natural enemies against it. The Scorpio and SU-130PM also have good mobility, so they are considered to be very similar, but they are still not the same in terms of specific play. Both the SU-130PM and the Scorpio are excellent tank destroyers that can wreak havoc on enemies at common engagement distances.
▲ Similar but not the same!
Even tanks of completely different types and shapes can behave very similarly in battle, adding a lot of talk to the story. It's this variety and selectivity that makes World of Tanks even more fun. The tanks listed in this article are only a small part, and there are actually many more "similar but not identical" tanks. It is hoped that commanders can flexibly choose the most suitable vehicle according to the needs of the battlefield and personal preferences.
