On October 18, it was exactly 3 months since Liu Liang returned to his hometown to participate in the flood rescue team.

In the past 3 months, there have been customers looking for him to work, he has declined, lost the opportunity to earn three or four hundred yuan a day; his mother and daughter-in-law have also urged him to return to work quickly, but he always said that when the water in the village is exhausted, he will return...

Who is Liu Liang? He is an ordinary party member in Houliuzhuang Village, Xiaohe Town, Xun County. Born in 1981, he joined the Communist Party of China in 2006 and is now engaged in renovation work.

When the flood came, he put down the decoration work that earned three or four hundred yuan a day and returned to the village to participate in the flood rescue commando team

On July 18, Liu Liang, who was doing decoration work in Qibin District, saw the news of the establishment of a flood rescue commando team in the village, and immediately put down the decoration work that could earn 300 to 400 yuan a day and rushed back to the village to join the flood rescue commando team.

Houliuzhuang Village is close to the WeiHe River and the Communist Canal, and is in a flood storage area, and the flood control pressure is very large. In the early hours of July 23, villagers who were asleep were awakened by loudspeakers telling them to immediately pack up their things and withdraw from the village. After Liu Liang sent his family to his sister, whose home was in the county seat, he rushed back to the village overnight, and together with the cadres of the village "two committees" and other members of the commando team, he went door to door to mobilize the villagers to quickly evacuate.

Some villagers brought a lot of luggage, so he went forward to help load the car; some old people did not want to leave home, so he went to the door to do ideological work; some old people worried that their children were worried about the flooding of home appliances and grain, so he and the commandos moved upstairs together... It was not until about 17:00 on July 24 that the villagers withdrew, and he hurriedly soaked bags of instant noodles to fill his hunger, and then carried hundreds of pounds of wheat seeds to the second floor.

That night, the commandos stayed in the village and went door to door to check to ensure the safety of the people's property.

Anxious about the urgency of the masses, they participated in the construction of protective embankments and helped the villagers urgently transfer grain

On July 25, Liu Haobin, a major grain collector in the village, approached Liu Shengmin, secretary of the village party branch, saying that his family was storing more than 100 tons of wheat, and he did not know what to do when he saw that the village was about to enter the water.

Liu Shengmin quickly organized commando members to help Liu Haobin urgently transfer wheat, forklift shovel, shovel shovel, dustpan shovel, basket pack... From ten o'clock in the morning to four or five o'clock in the afternoon, more than 100 tons of grain were finally transferred.

"At first, I thought that the terrain at home was high, and there should be nothing wrong, but then I came to the news and learned that the water was fierce and urgent, fortunately, Secretary Liu organized Liu Liang and other members of the rescue team to help transfer grain, otherwise the family really did not know what to do." Although it has been more than two months since the incident, Liu Haobin's wife is still grateful when she mentions it.

After the emergency transfer of grain, the commandos did not care to breathe a sigh of relief, the village received a notice to open the flood storage area, and the members of the emergency rescue team hurried to build a protective embankment around the village, which was busy until four or five o'clock in the morning of the next day. At about 6 o'clock on July 26, the water flowed to the edge of the village, the water potential was much stronger than expected, and the embankment of the village more than 1 meter high was about to be submerged, and they rushed to rescue various equipment in the village.

"It didn't take long for the water level in the low terrain of the village to be waist deep, just after rescuing the equipment in the village, villager Liu Shengwang called me to say that there were still 30,000 kilograms of wheat at home, and we rushed to help him transfer the wheat, and finally the remaining 3,000 kilograms of wheat on the car really couldn't fit down, so we had to pile up in the corner, seeing that the water was going to flood the corner, we quickly carried the wheat to the roof." Remembering the scene at that time, Liu Liang still had palpitations in his heart.

"He actively participated in the village's flood prevention and rescue, post-disaster recovery and reconstruction."

At noon on July 26, Liu Liang and other commandos received orders that all members of the commando team must be evacuated in order to ensure the safety of their lives. After being evacuated from the village, his family called Liu Liang and suggested that he either go back to Qibin District to work or go to his sister's house in xun county to reunite with his family.

But he did not adopt both suggestions, but rushed to Xiaohe Town to do volunteer work, helping to load and unload love supplies, and conduct night patrols.

On August 2, under the leadership of Liu Shengmin, Liu Liang and other commandos entered the village in a forklift to salvage dead animals and poultry, clean up tree debris that affected road traffic and power supply, and killed the whole village...

On the morning of October 18, the reporter rushed to Houliuzhuang Village, and as soon as he inquired about Liu Liang, some villagers immediately pointed to the east of the village and said that he was draining water in the field. Because the terrain in the east of the village is relatively low and the water is more serious, the reporter went around a large circle to come to Liu Liang's location.

Liu Liang, dressed in camouflage and wearing red cuffs on his arms, is directing excavators to raise temporary canals to prevent water from flowing back into the farmland. "It took a while to drain the water in the village, and in mid-September, it rained several times in a row, and there was water in the village and the farmland, and if we didn't step up the time to drain the water, it would affect this autumn planting." Liu Liang said.

"Comrade reporter, you must report well on Liu Liang, who left behind the work of earning three or four hundred yuan a day and was busy in the village every day." An old man next to him said.

"Climb up to the tree to help the electrician set up the line, go down to the water to set up protective sandbags, don't look at him silently, he has an idea in his heart." Another uncle said.

"Liu Liang is a good party member and a good villager, and he actively participates in the work of flood prevention and rescue in the village, post-disaster recovery and reconstruction." Liu Shengmin said this about him.

Although he was unanimously praised by those present, Liu Liang modestly said that he was just an ordinary Communist Party member, doing things that all Communist Party members would do, and all he did was to help the villagers resume normal production and life as soon as possible.
