How to present a unique wooden building to meet the needs of the owners for vacation and music rehearsals?
▼ Overview of the building
The building is located on a north-facing south-facing slope of Schoppernau with views of the Bregenzerwald on three sides. In winter, cable cars glide over the meadows and the train station between the valleys is within easy reach. Makes this apartment even more intriguing. There is also a music rehearsal room for the owner, her students or band members to study and rehearse.
▼Garage entrance
The overall spatial layout of the building volume consists of a longitudinal structure and a pitched roof. Timber construction was one of the owner's initial requirements for the design concept.
▼ Building façade
Since the building is located on a hill, the garage and entrance on the ground floor, as well as the annex rooms, have a masonry structure. The rest is made of wood. An interior staircase leads to a porch (terrace integrated into the building) on the ground floor, from which the "public" space is accessed. It is a holiday cottage with a music rehearsal room and a separate entrance, as well as a garden.
▼ Rehearsal room
The family apartment is located on the top floor. A central staircase leads into the living space, which views the mountains. In front of the living room is another private terrace in the building. It avoids too much heat in the living room, and the fenced design also protects the privacy of the owners.

Ecological and economic sustainability is always in the pursuit of design. The wooden structure of the building is entirely derived from the Moon Forest. All timber needs are met by the owners harvesting from their own groves. The owners themselves will do everything they can to add a handle to their house. They called it "a relationship-promoting event at a critical time." The built-in tile stove is second-hand, removed from a demolished building and reinstalled here. This is yet another contribution to sustainability awareness. All the craftsmen, building materials and techniques are chosen within a radius of 50 km.

The walls and ceiling are made of spruce wood. The shingles on the façade are also made of spruce wood, which of course was pasted by the owners themselves. The windows, furniture and sound-absorbing ceilings are made of fir. In the bedroom, the ceiling has been well insulated with paint. The wooden floors throughout the house are laid in ashwood.
