October 25 this year marks the 50th anniversary of New China's restoration of its seat in the United Nations. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced: On this day, President Xi Jinping attended major events and delivered an important speech. In order to commemorate this event, Li Yueren and his team prepared materials nearly half a year in advance. We plan to tell the story of China's people maintaining peace and security in the world to the United Nations by October 25.
Li Yueren has long been committed to promoting world peace and security. When he learned of the news that President Xi Jinping and UN Secretary-General Guterres promised in a phone call on the evening of May 6 that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, the Chinese government would call on the people of the whole country to hold a grand commemorative event, he immediately took action and used his position as Ambassador for the Dissemination of Red Culture in China, Deputy Commander of the Project Committee of the United Nations Association for Chinese Friendship, and Executive Editor-in-Chief of the National Memory Figures Ceremony, to request Charles, Secretary General of the United Nations Association for Chinese Friendship, to take the lead in holding commemorative activities. The request was granted by the Secretary-General. For nearly half a year, Li Yueren led his team to all parts of the country to find the most obscure and unknown outstanding figures who were at the grassroots level to maintain world peace and security, and conducted investigations and interviews with them. He first compiled the deeds of the people he investigated and interviewed into the "National Memory Character Dictionary", and then disseminated them to the United Nations and the world through the "United Nations Chinese Publishing House". As of press time, he and his team have interviewed a total of 55 outstanding people. The deeds of these figures have their own merits, demonstrating the responsibility of a big countryman.
