On July 29, it was reported that if you want to say that many people want the last function, then the engine start and stop is definitely on the list.
In order to improve the fuel-saving rate, many cars are equipped with an engine start-stop function when leaving the factory, which will automatically stop running when waiting for a red light at the intersection, and will restart itself when starting, but in terms of use experience, it has been complained by many consumers, including BMW.
Previously, BMW models were equipped with an automatic engine start-stop function, which users could turn off/on through the automatic start-stop button, but in recent years, BMW has canceled the automatic start-stop button for some models (models equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology), so users can only force the automatic start-stop function off by turning on the SPORT mode or switching manual/sport gears, which makes many users uncomfortable.
The good news is that, according to "BMW Customer", the BMW 7 Series, which will be put into production from July 2024, will add an automatic engine start-stop function shutdown option to the center console display, while the BMW 7 Series (G70) produced before that can be obtained through the RSU remote software upgrade function.
This option is available in the Drive Settings-Drive System and Chassis-Engine Eco Start-Stop settings (also available via the scroll-down top menu bar), and the user can actively choose to turn it off or on again, but it is on by default the next time the vehicle is started.
After practical testing, the BMW X5 (G18) also obtained this option after updating to version 07/2024 through the RSU remote software update function, which infers that the RSU remote software upgrade may be applicable to more BMW 5 Series, BMW X6 and BMW X7 models equipped with iDrive 8.5 (BMW iDrive with 8.5th generation operating system).
