In the Northern Ireland Open final, Mark Allen beat Higgins 9:8 in three consecutive sets with his opponents in control of the match point, lifting the "Alex Higgins Trophy" for the first time.

This is Allen's sixth ranking title, and he has won the Masters and The Champions in recent years, and White thinks Allen can start his assault on the World Championship.

The 2018 Masters champion is the only "big three" winner of allen's career to date, but Jimmy White believes Allen still has hope of challenging the other two titles of the "big three" before retiring.

Speaking to Eurosport, White said: "Winning this race is a fantastic achievement for him (Allen). He has the ability to go on to win the 'Three Races'. He [Allen] is looking forward to winning the title in his hometown, and I think he is also eager for the 'three majors' championship. ”

"With his style of play, beating one of the greatest players of all time, John Higgins, who was trailing 6-8, and he also shot a 147 in this tournament, it couldn't have been better. Mark Allen and John Higgins both performed quite well in the final, and it was a wonderful final. ”

White also pointed out that Allen picked out judd Trump, Stephen Maguire and Rich Wharton in this tournament to reach the final.

White said: "I was impressed with Mark Allen that he had been very patient and I was impressed with his performance on Ann Globe. He is no less than every one of his opponents defensively and he is a well-deserved winner. ”

Allen's performance at the World Championships has been unsatisfactory, with only one semi-final in 2009 and losing to Higgins.

Allen's performance at the British Championships was decent, having lost to Judd Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan in the finals in 2011 and 2018, respectively, to finish second.
