On July 28, Marvel Studios announced at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con that the titles of the 5th and 6th installments of the "Avengers" series are "Avengers: Day of Destruction" and "Avengers: Secret Wars" respectively, and the two films are expected to be released on May 1, 2026 and May 7, 2027.
Robert · Downey Jr. also confirmed that he will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, changing his identity from "Iron Man" to the villain "Doctor Doom" (Doctor Doom), and Downey took off his mask at the Marvel event and announced that he would play "Doctor Doom".
Downey opened the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008's Iron Man and became one of the biggest movie stars in the world. "Iron Man" propelled the MCU to become the highest-grossing film franchise of all time — and in the process, Downey was also handsomely rewarded as the actor of Iron Man, reportedly earning up to $50 million. And in 2019's "Avengers: Endgame", Downey retired as "Iron Man", and he sacrificed himself to save the universe. Marvel was always looking for a protagonist to fill the void left by Downey.
Marvel's new "Avengers" movie has experienced several twists and turns, "Avengers 5" was originally called "Kang's Dynasty", which tells the story of the Avengers against the conqueror "Kang", who is trying to conquer the multiverse. But in February 2024, the film company announced that it would replace the title of "Kang's Dynasty", saying that the role of "Kang" would no longer be placed in the title. Now, a new title has finally appeared, called "Day of Destruction".
The originally scheduled screenwriter "Doctor Strange 2" and "Loki" screenwriter Michael · Waldren announced that he would no longer write stories for "Avengers 5". And "Avengers" Part 5 and Part 6 of "Deadpool 3" director Sean · Levy declined the invitation because he wanted to prioritize other projects such as Star Wars movies. After that, Marvel began to negotiate with the Russo brothers, wanting the latter to return to directing "The Avengers", and went around in a circle and returned to the original point.
And, in the future, the Russo brothers will be responsible for more Marvel projects.
In addition, Marvel Studios announced that a new Fantastic Four movie will be released in 2025, titled "Fantastic Four: First Steps".
Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman and Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic
The film is directed by Matt Shachman, with Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Thunderbolt, and Ebon Morse-Baklach as the Stone Man.
The Fantastic Four will also appear in the next two Avengers films.
