Gala Village is famous for the Peach Blossom Festival, which is held in March and April every year when a steady stream of tourists from all over the country flock to see the peach blossoms all over the mountains.
More than 20 years ago, Gala was a small village with wild peach blossoms, and the villagers relied on traditional agriculture for their livelihood. Nima Dorjee, deputy director of the village committee, said: "When I was in primary school, my mother carried peaches on her back to the city to sell, and a basket could only be sold for a dozen yuan. In the past, the environment in the village was harsh, the appearance of the village was poor, the infrastructure was backward, and the villagers could not earn much money after working hard for a year. ”
Relying on the peach blossom tourism resources, Gala Village has held the first Peach Blossom Festival since 2002, and has been held for 21 consecutive sessions, and the tourism income has increased year after year, so Gala Village has become a "Peach Blossom Village". Nima Dorjee, deputy director of the village committee, said that the ticket revenue of the Peach Blossom Festival in Gala Village alone in 2023 will reach more than 3 million yuan.
In addition to the peach blossom economy, Gala Village has also created a lot of village collective economy, the development of "sideline business", the villagers rely on animal husbandry, machinery rental and other ways to develop the collective economy, joint management, increase income.
At the same time, after long-term renovation and construction, the environment and infrastructure of Gala Village have been gradually improved, and it has become a truly livable and workable village. "Ten years ago, I used to visit Gala Village, and it has changed a lot, when the village road was a dirt road, and now the whole village has a new look." Li Lin, a tourist from Shaanxi, said.
In the home of the villager Bian Ba, the Tibetan two-story stone and wood watchhouse is clean and tidy, and the home is equipped with all kinds of water and power grid equipment. "In recent years, Nyingchi City has vigorously implemented infrastructure construction such as rural network transformation, water conservancy facilities, drinking water for people and livestock, and improvement of the living environment, and implemented 'one village, one policy' to promote rural construction, and rural production and living conditions have been significantly improved." Liu Jinfeng, head of the Development Planning Section of the Nyingchi Rural Revitalization Bureau, said.
