Recently, the National Translation Professional Qualification (Level) Examination (CATTI) English Level 1 Translation Textbook Preparation Kick-off Meeting was held at the CATTI Project Center of CIPG. CATTI English Level 1 Translation Textbook is the first textbook for the training of senior professional title translators written in China so far.
Chen Mingming, former Chinese ambassador to foreign countries, former director of the Translation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, deputy director of the CATTI English Expert Committee, deputy director of the National Translation Series Senior Title Evaluation Committee, Ren Xiaoping, former vice president of the China Foreign Affairs College, former deputy director of the Translation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former Chinese ambassador abroad, deputy director of the CATTI English Expert Committee, Jiang Ping, expert of the first-level textbook writing team and general manager of the CATTI project center, Feng Jingyi, deputy general manager, and head of the textbook editing department attended the kick-off meeting.

Chen Mingming pointed out in his speech that the CATTI English first-level textbook preparation project is to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on "strengthening China's international communication capacity building", adhere to the specific measures of telling Chinese stories well, disseminating Chinese voices, and cultivating high-end translation talents, which is of great significance to the establishment of a translation talent assessment level system.
Ren Xiaoping delivered a speech
Ren Xiaoping said in her speech that the preparation of CATTI English level 1 textbooks is conducive to promoting the cultivation of high-end translation talents. Through the preparation of teaching materials, the standards for the cultivation of high-end translation talents have been formulated, and the purpose of the translation examination to promote learning has been truly brought into play.
The CATTI English first-level textbook will be edited by Ambassador Ren Xiaoping, with the participation of experts from universities such as the China Foreign Affairs University and Xinhua News Agency and translation practice units, and is expected to be published and distributed in the first half of next year.
