This "black box" is not simple
This is a gateway device called VOIP
It can realize the overseas network signal
The function of converting into the city's landline signal
Originally
The so-called "staff of a telecommunications company"
It's actually a fake wire fraud gang!
VoIP equipment seized by the police
Previously, fraud gangs in Beijing, Shanghai and other places installed "black boxes" in the name of repairing broadband networks at home, and the police also issued reminders many times.
According to the Sichuan Mianyang Internet Police: On June 13, the Mianyang Internet Security Department arrested 2 people, who truthfully confessed to the illegal act of pretending to be staff of a communication company and going to a town in Mianyang to install VOIP equipment and provide it to overseas fraud gangs to make fraudulent calls, making a total profit of 800 yuan. The two have been administratively punished by the public security organs in Mianyang, Sichuan Province in accordance with the law.
A lot of people may have heard of GOIP
How did this pop up again
In fact, the two are similar, both are IP-based voice transmission conversion, simply put, it is to create a layer of sheepskin, to put a coat on the overseas calls of criminals.
GOIP is the use of mobile phone cards to access the telephone network, and the caller ID is the mobile phone number; VOIP is the use of fixed telephone lines to access the telephone network, and the caller ID is the landline number.
Fraudsters in foreign countries make remote dialing, and after the conversion of VOIP equipment, the caller ID on the victim's mobile phone is the domestic fixed-line number, which greatly reduces the victim's defensive psychology.
Popularization time
The public security organs have always insisted on cracking down on illegal sales, rentals, lending, and selling of bank cards and telephone cards, as well as illegal installation and use of "GOIP" and "VOIP" equipment.
According to Article 287-2 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China [Crime of Aiding Information Network Criminal Activities], knowing that others are using information networks to commit crimes, providing them with technical support such as Internet access, server hosting, network storage, communication transmission, or providing assistance such as advertising and promotion, payment and settlement, etc., and the circumstances are serious, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years or criminal detention, and shall be fined concurrently or alone.
