Von der Leyen's re-election may not be good news for China, which is under threat to its investment in Europe.
A few days ago, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen successfully won a five-year re-term in the European Parliament with 401 votes in favor, 284 votes against, 22 abstentions or invalid.
Although it seems to be expected, I am afraid that everyone present knows how many cats are behind this vote. As the president of the European Commission, von der Leyen's various actions in the past few years can be said to have roasted the EU on the fire, in the Sino-US game, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and other major power competitions, as a large economy with enough economic volume to wrestle with China and the United States, the EU under the leadership of von der Leyen has almost deteriorated, almost reduced to a vassal of the United States.
For this reason, European Parliament member Piperea bluntly said that von der Leyen "makes Europe poorer", and even the US media bluntly said that von der Leyen is one of the three "diplomatic fools" in Europe.
In a word, von der Leyen may well be one of the worst chairs since the European Commission was born. What is even more ironic is that von der Leyen's poor ability can be found many years ago, von der Leyen served as the defense minister of the Merkel government in Germany, and at that time, Germany's defense did not say that it developed, but simply reversed. So that after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, former Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel was criticized, in addition to maintaining good relations with Russia President Putin, another reason is that Merkel's defense was messed up during her tenure, resulting in Germany being very passive during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. But few people remember that von der Leyen may have been more responsible on this issue than Merkel.
Therefore, with von der Leyen's ability, coupled with her "naked official" status, the whole family settled in United States except herself, saying that she is on the rise, and there is no American force behind her, no one in the entire European Parliament will believe it.
Of course, choosing such an individual to be the president of the European Commission has many advantages for United States. It can not only drag down the EU's hind legs, but also push the EU to act as the vanguard of United States' anti-Russian containment of China and block bullets for United States. Recently, United States officials are inciting European countries within NATO, and once a conflict breaks out with Russia, the first thing to do is to "nationalize" China's valuable infrastructure investment in Europe.
If Europe does this, it will be cut off from the rest of the world, and no country will dare to invest in Europe in the future. However, we can imagine that at that time, von der Leyen is likely to find an excuse to lead the EU to take action against China's infrastructure.
It is also at this moment when Chinese assets may be seized that Prime Minister Orban, who has seen through the United States hypocritical nature of the EU presidency Hungary is determined to start anew, not only opposing the EU's continued follow-up to the United States, but also deciding to form a new party group in the European Parliament to compete with the American forces within the EU.
But von der Leyen will obviously not let Orban go, after von der Leyen had harshly accused Orban of not visiting Russia, and recently the European Commission under von der Leyen refused to send representatives to the EU Council meeting chaired by Hungary. In this re-election, von der Leyen even threatened not to let the polarization of European society prevail, and the subtext is clearly to clean up the rational people represented by Orban who openly oppose the United States line, and next, there may be a battle within the EU.
