With Spain's four-minute win over France and United Kingdom's "hard-hitting" Netherlands, the Matadors and Three Lions meeting in the final will ignite the grand end of this summer's European Championship on July 14.
Going back in time, United Kingdom BBC Sport has built a Euro 2024 studio in Berlin, the host country's capital Germany, to track the intense action of the month-long Euro 2024 tournament. Situated in a prime location in the heart of Berlin on Parisplatz, overlooking Berlin's iconic Brandenburg Gate, Euro 2024 studio is equipped with the world-renowned ROE Visual RB1.9BV2 and BM4 LED panels, which use xR technology to make the event coverage refreshing.
Euro 2024 studio is divided into two studios, indoor and outdoor, with floor-to-ceiling windows and the Brandenburg Gate standing outside the window as the background, and the side walls are built by ROE Visual RB1.9BV2 to display the live broadcast of the stadium and the analysis of the game in real time. Inspired by Berlin's Neues Museum, the designers cleverly used the seamless ROE Visual LED sidewall scenes and AR ceilings to give the interior studio a sense of historical grandeur and a striking sense of spatial extension.
The outdoor studio is built on the roof, and the outdoor scene tests the waterproof performance of the LED floor tiles. The BBC Sports team chose ROE Visual BM4 to create a visual effect of clear glass floors, echoing the indoor studio below, creating more visual coherence between the two studios. Whether it's an evening report or an image presentation, the BM4 LED floor tiles with glass masks are bright and vivid to exceed expectations.
BBC Sports Design Team Executive Producer Phil Bigwood and Chief Director Colm Harty said they were particularly impressed with ROE Visual standing out at IBC 2023, which convinced them that xR technology could take the quality of Euro Championship coverage to new heights. In addition to this year's European Cup, the America's Cup has also used ROE Visual LED products and Ghostframe technology to make the event coverage more engaging.
For the BBC Sports team, this is the first time they have built a scene in such a challenging environment, combining LED, image tracking, xR and other technologies. Indoor studios need LED screens with high definition and high contrast, while outdoor and open-air conditions put forward strict requirements for LED floor tiles such as high brightness, high contrast, waterproof, and anti-reflective. The BBC Sports team conducted several rounds of testing of the RB1.9BV2 and BM4, including round-the-clock testing of the BM4's in-flight performance, simulating different ambient light conditions to test the RB1.9BV2's visuals, and more. ROE Visual LED delivered a satisfactory answer.
With ROE Visual LED by its side, the 2024 Euro Cup, which is intertwined with passion and regret, is about to usher in the final. ROE Visual LED will continue to provide fans with a top-notch viewing experience and witness who will win the Delaunay Cup!
