The UN General Assembly passed a resolution on Russia and Ukraine, but China rarely did not follow Russia's tone and abstained from voting and gave an explanation

In the tense atmosphere of the United Nations General Assembly in recent days, a resolution on the safety of nuclear facilities in Ukraine was quietly adopted, which explicitly demanded that the Russia Federation withdraw its troops from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

However, the story behind this is far more complex than it seems. Who is threatening the safety of this nuclear power plant? Why did the adoption of the resolution not bring the expected calm, but instead sparked more controversy and questions?

Let us return first to the resolution itself. The resolution, led by United States and Ukraine, was adopted by 99 votes in favor, 9 against and 60 abstentions.

In the resolution, the UN General Assembly not only "condemned Russia's violation of the UN Charter in the strongest terms", but also singled out Russia's "attacks" on important energy facilities in Ukraine that increased the risk of a nuclear accident.

All this seems to point to a clear conclusion: Russia is the main culprit that threatens the safety of Ukraine's nuclear facilities.

However, is this really the case?

Soon after the adoption of the resolution, news broke that the vast majority of the current threats to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant actually come from the Ukraine armed forces.

This revelation undoubtedly casts a shadow over the resolution that has just been passed. If this statement is true, how can the accusations and condemnations in the resolution be explained?

According to an IAEA social media article, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has indeed suffered a drone attack in recent days, resulting in injuries to many employees and damage to equipment.

And the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant made it clear in its statement that the attacks were carried out by the armed forces of Ukraine. The gravity of this allegation speaks for itself, and it directly challenges the basic assumptions in the resolution and forces us to re-examine the truth of the whole matter.

So why did the Ukraine side launch such an attack? Don't they understand that doing so would jeopardize the safety of nuclear power plants and could even lead to a much larger catastrophe?

The answers to these questions are not yet known, but it is certain that the safety of Ukraine's nuclear facilities is far more complex than we think. It is not only about the political and military game between Russia and Ukraine, but also about the security and stability of the whole of Europe and even the world.

Returning to the resolution itself, it is not difficult to find many problems and controversies in it. First, while condemning Russia, the resolution ignores possible problems and responsibilities on the part of Ukraine.

Such one-sided accusations will undoubtedly exacerbate tensions between the two sides and will not help solve the problem.

Second, although the resolution calls for Russia to withdraw its troops from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, it does not put forward a specific withdrawal plan and timetable, which undoubtedly leaves great uncertainty about its actual implementation.

In addition, we need to pay attention to the different attitudes of China and Russia in the vote. While China and Russia maintain close cooperation on many international issues, there were rare differences in the vote.

In his explanatory remarks, the Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations expressed China's position and concerns, saying that the resolution did not highlight the importance of promoting dialogue and negotiation and seeking a political solution, nor did it fundamentally resolve the European security issue.

This statement undoubtedly cast a shadow on the adoption of the resolution, and also let us see the subtle differences between China and Russia in international affairs.

However, no matter how many controversies and questions the adoption of the resolution raises, we cannot ignore the important message contained in it: the safety of Ukraine's nuclear facilities has risen to a new level, and it is not only about the interests of Russia and Ukraine, but also affects the nerves of the entire international community.

Any unilateral accusations and condemnations on this issue will be of no avail. What we need is a calm, rational and comprehensive analysis, as well as an unbiased judgment based on facts and evidence. Only in this way can we find ways and means to truly solve the problem.

At the same time, we need to recognize that the safety of Ukraine's nuclear facilities is not an isolated case. It reflects the lack of trust and confrontational mentality that prevail in current international relations.

In this context, any unilateral actions and decisions could trigger greater crises and conflicts. Therefore, we need more dialogue and communication to build a cooperative relationship based on mutual respect and understanding.

Back to the question at the beginning of the article: who exactly threatens the safety of nuclear facilities in Ukraine? The answer may not be so important. More importantly, how we should face and solve this problem.

Only through comprehensive investigation and analysis to identify the root causes and crux of the problem can targeted measures and methods be taken to ensure the safety and stability of nuclear facilities.

In this process, we need to abandon all forms of bias and confrontational thinking, and work together to address challenges with openness, inclusiveness and cooperation. Only in this way can we truly safeguard the peace and stability of the international community and protect the common home of mankind.

Finally, we have to mention that this incident is a wake-up call for us, regardless of how the safety of Ukraine's nuclear facilities is finally resolved.

In future international affairs, we need to pay more attention to cooperation and dialogue to avoid the recurrence of similar crises.

At the same time, we need to strengthen the authority and effectiveness of international law and norms to ensure that all States can act within a legal and ethical framework.

In short, the safety of nuclear facilities in Ukraine is not only a regional issue, but also a global challenge. We need to address this challenge together in an open, inclusive and cooperative manner in order to ensure peace and stability in human society.

At the same time, we also need to draw lessons from this incident and strengthen international cooperation and dialogue to avoid the recurrence of similar crises. In the days to come, let us work together to build a more peaceful, stable and prosperous world!
