Inspired by the internationally acclaimed film of the same name shot in the 60s of the Soviet Union, Eduardo Vitía, principal dancer and choreographer of the Cuban National Spanish Dance Company, was created for this trip to China, and took five years to conceive from 2019 to its premiere in 2024.
The play is divided into five chapters: Cuban Nights, Residential Buildings, Esplanade, Dance Steps in the Park, and Tropical Ball. The stage is presented with the most typical scenes of Cuba, as if creating a museum of Cuban-style Spanish music and dance: flamenco, rumba, bolero, bachata, danzón and other dances have appeared, and live bands and singing voices reproduce the classic Spanish chant, bringing the roughness and vastness of the ocean with the most original voice!
When the curtain opens, the fiery and unrestrained will envelop everyone present, like a whirlwind that makes people unconsciously follow their dance steps to spin and jump, and indulge in laughter...... That's the beauty of Cuban dance!

I Am Cuba is a performance by the Cuban National Spanish Dance Company, founded in 1987, which encompasses the most influential Spanish dance culture in the world.
Legendary dance artist Alicia Alonso, known as the "Mother of Latin American Dance", is the founder of the Cuban National Spanish Dance Company. After 20 years of hard work, the National Spanish Dance Company of Cuba has been recognized as the best company in Cuba to express Spanish dance. Today, under the leadership of Principal Dancer and Choreographer Eduardo Vitia, the Company is a world-class artistic ensemble with a diverse repertoire, from classical dance to the purest flamenco, a fusion of diverse styles of dance that is unique on the international dance scene.
