"Despicable Me 4" will be released in China this weekend
Last weekend coincided with the Independence Day holiday in the United States, and the market was controlled by two cartoons, "Despicable Me 4" won the championship with $122 million in five days, and nearly $230 million in the global opening weekend. "Mind Squad 2" ranked second in the fourth week of its release, with a total of $533 million in North America and more than $1.2 billion worldwide.
"Despicable Me 4" began its release in North America on July 3, with a three-day weekend of $75 million and a total of $122 million over the holiday. In the entire "Despicable Me" series (excluding Minion indie films), "Despicable Me 4" opened in second place, behind "Despicable Me 2" at $143 million.
The word-of-mouth of "Despicable Me 4" has little impact on the box office
In the North American film history independent holiday opening list, "Despicable Me 4" ranked ninth, and the highest ranking was "Spider-Man: Far From Home" in 2019 with $185 million. Although "Despicable Me 4" is only 54% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, it can't stop family audiences from entering.
"Despicable Me 4" was released simultaneously or ahead of schedule in 74 markets around the world, and has now won $107 million, bringing the film to $230 million in its global opening weekend, with an investment of $100 million.
"Mind 2" makes money and earns softly
"Mind Squad 2" is still strong in the fourth week of its release, under the strong pressure of the same animated sequel "Despicable Me 4", it got $30 million in the fourth weekend, exceeded $530 million in North America, and will successively exceed the $543 million of the real beast version of "The Lion King" and the $574 million of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" in the coming week, and will eventually surpass the $608 million of "Incredibles 2" and become the king of animation in North American film history.
"A Quiet Place: Invasion Day" received $21 million (3 days) in the second weekend in North America, with a total of $94.35 million in North America and $178 million worldwide. The thriller was only $67 million invested, and Paramount is going to make money again.
A24's new film Maxine opened at $6.7 million and received a B on CinemaScore, while the series "Pearl" and "X" opened at $3.1 million and $4.3 million, respectively.
Angel Pictures released the new film "Voice of Hope" in 2,200 theaters and received $3.21 million, with a CinemaScore of A+, and it is estimated that it will take a long time.
Other films, "Jedi Men: Life and Death" have accumulated $177 million in North America and $360 million worldwide.
Horizon: American Legends has accumulated $22.19 million in North America and $22.74 million worldwide.
