As one of China's "Eight Tigers of Criminal Investigation", Wu Guoqing can lock down a criminal suspect with just a bag of pickles, and let a robber fall into the net with just one apple core.
In that era when the network was not developed, Wu Guoqing's eyes were more flexible and clear than surveillance, even after retirement, Wu Guoqing was still rehired by the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, and many major cases were solved.
In the final analysis, although Wu Guoqing decided the case, it was a mortal body after all, and it was inevitable that there would be deviations in judgment, and a rare misjudgment made by Wu Lao in 2000 not only almost killed innocent people, but also became the heart knot of Wu Guoqing's life.
Review the Du Peiwu case
On April 22, 1998, a murder case of a heinous nature occurred in Kunming, Yunnan Province, in which two police officers died, one of whom was Wang Junbo, deputy director of the Lunan County Public Security Bureau in Kunming City.
The two deceased were found in a van, disheveled at the time of their deaths, apparently having done something immoral, and after a forensic examination, the cause of their death was determined to be shot and killed at close range.
The murder weapon was a "77" pistol carried by Wang Junbo, but the whereabouts of the gun were unknown after the incident, and it is very likely that it was still in the hands of the murderer, and the situation was very serious.
In order to quickly arrest the murderer and get the gun back, the Kunming Public Security Bureau found the retired Wu Guoqing, who followed the criminal investigation team to the scene of the murder without saying a word.
According to Wu Guoqing's observations, the two deceased were killed by one shot, and the murderer should be familiar with this gun type and have also received professional training.
Judging from the deaths of the two deceased, the two were defenseless and a little panicked before they died, the murderer must be someone they are familiar with, according to the above two points, Wu Guoqing judged that the murderer should be a policeman.
But what Wu Guoqing didn't expect was that because of his own judgment, the Kunming police's investigation direction was completely wrong, which led to the occurrence of an unjust case, and the victim policeman was also disabled for life.
After a series of conditional screening, the informant Du Peiwu became the only suspect in this case, he is the husband of the female deceased Wang Xiaoxiang, and he is also a police officer in the Yunnan Anti-Drug Station.
If you only look at the motive for the killing, Du Peiwu is also completely in line, not long before the crime, his wife Wang Xiaoxiang hid a child from him, and judging from the situation at the scene of the crime, the relationship between Wang Xiaoxiang and Wang Junbo is self-evident.
All the circumstances are very consistent, Du Peiwu was detained as a suspect, during which Du Peiwu was also tortured by the police to extract a confession, and he also suffered cerebellar atrophy and was left with lifelong disabilities.
The truth is out
In fact, Wu Guoqing didn't think that the case would go so smoothly, but in his opinion, there are still several doubts that have not been solved, such as why did Du Peiwu go to the police after killing someone?
If it was a vendetta, why did Du Peiwu take away all the valuable things on Wang Junbo and the others? The two are very contradictory, but in the case, there are no other police suspects for the time being, and Du Peiwu has also been coerced to "confess".
Fortunately, on October 20, 1999, the Yunnan Provincial High People's Court "showed mercy" and sentenced Du Peiwu to a two-year reprieve.
On June 17, 2000, the police caught a gang of extraordinarily large homicides and found an old-fashioned pistol in the safe of the prisoner, Yang Tianyong, which was confirmed to be Wang Junbo's matching gun.
According to Yang Tianyong's confession, he used to be a railway policeman, but he chose to resign because of unsatisfactory work, and then he lived a life of licking blood from the knife edge.
So Yang Tianyong pretended to be a patrol policeman, Wang Junbo and Wang Xiaoxiang were already weak-hearted, he easily got Wang Junbo's gun, anyway, he had more than one life on his body, so he simply killed two people.
The truth was revealed, Du Peiwu was released and received a compensation of 20,000 yuan, but the damage caused to him by this oolong will never heal.
Wu Guoqing knows this very well, and he has conducted a deep reflection on this matter, although the real culprit in this case was indeed a policeman, but the conviction of Du Peiwu is also a fact, and Du Peiwu's case has become the only misjudgment in Wu Guoqing's career.
The most proud case ever solved: Chen Ping's murder of his wife
After the Du Peiwu case, Wu Guoqing was more careful in the process of investigation, relying on his years of criminal investigation experience and the original "on-site analysis method" to solve strange cases.
Among them, the case of Chen Ping's murder of his wife is the most difficult case in Wu Guoqing's opinion, and in his words, this is a classic case with "ironclad evidence".
On September 29, 2003, Wang Ling, a woman in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, was murdered at home, and the entire crime scene was carefully turned into a rape case, but there were several suspicious points that contradicted themselves, making the police scratch their heads.
According to Wu Guoqing's observation, there were only footprints walking into the house at the scene, and there were no footprints repeating or going out.
The victim's hands and feet were tied, and the four knives on his chest were flat, and there was no trace of struggle, which showed that the victim was defenseless against the murderer.
After laboratory tests, it was found that the deceased was suspected of having taken sleeping pills, but the deceased's husband, Chen Ping, concealed this from the police, and also disrupted the direction of the police on several occasions.
At that time, Chen Pingzheng was the chief prosecutor of Qindu District in Xianyang, and without sufficient evidence, the police had no way to act.
Just when the case-handling personnel were worried, Wu Guoqing found that there were two bloody knife marks superimposed on the scene of the crime, and it was difficult to find the difference without careful observation.
Wu Guoqing judged that one knife mark was left by the murderer during the crime, and the other was inadvertently left by the murderer when he was weak-minded.
With the murder weapon, no matter how much Chen Ping quibbled, the truth also surfaced, it turned out that Chen Ping liked gambling very much on weekdays, and a large part of it came from Wang Ling's company.
And Chen Ping still has many mistresses, which makes his wife Wang Ling unbearable to him and plans to divorce him, and Wang Ling also has a lot of evidence of corruption in Chen Ping's hands.
In order to avoid future troubles, Chen Ping decided to kill his wife, not only keeping the secret but also obtaining his wife's property, after being arrested, Chen Ping, as the chief prosecutor, was familiar with the process and routines of the judicial system, and in order to avoid censorship, he chose to keep silent.
However, the evidence is ironclad, no matter how much Chen Ping denies it, he was finally brought to justice, and the unfair cases that Chen Ping tried before were finally brought to light.
Although Wu Guoqing misjudged Du Peiwu's case, his judgment was not wrong, and if it weren't for the fact that individual criminal policemen in the special case group were overjoyed and used extraordinary means against Du Peiwu, this case would not have become an unjust case.
Fortunately, in the end, Du Peiwu was able to avenge his grievances and save his life and honor.
Aside from the Du Peiwu case, Wu Guoqing's investigative ability and on-site investigation methods were very skillful, and he gave a fair and just explanation to the vast majority of the victims and their families.
In the more than 50 years of Wu Guoqing's career, he has not slackened on himself at all, and has solved many major national cases, on June 24, 2019, he left us forever, may there be no doubts in heaven, and Wu Lao can rest in peace!
