And, of course, buttons underneath for front and rear anti-glare and deactivated lane tracking – well done, MINI. Two USB-C outlets and a 12-volt socket for front seat passengers.

Heartbreak? No. It simply creates a sense of imperfection in a refreshing, pleasing interior space. To sum up, we dare to say that in terms of materials, the image has not improved, if not regressed, compared to the second generation.

At the heart of the MINI JCW Countryman ALL4 and every Countryman's completely redesigned, modernized and hyper-digital cockpit is the unique round OLED central display with a diameter of 24 cm. It's also the only screen in the car, apart from the small head-up display that comes standard with JCW.

The round dial has excellent graphic quality and performance, and is essentially the only way to interact with the car. It can be operated by voice from the MINI voice assistant Spike, or by touch via the British brand's latest generation infotainment system.
