According to South Korean media reports, on the morning of the 6th local time, a fire broke out in the headquarters building of the Korea Railway Corporation in the center of Seoul, resulting in the evacuation of about 30 people, but fortunately there were no casualties. A computer malfunction caused by the fire disrupted on-site ticket sales at some train stations.
According to the fire department, the fire broke out at around 9:40 a.m. in a data processing room on the fourth floor of the building, and about 200 firefighters and dozens of fire trucks were subsequently put into extinguishing the fire. At around 1:10 p.m., the fire was completely extinguished. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Due to a computer failure caused by the fire, ticket inquiry, sales, and refunds were suspended at some train stations across Korea, but all trains were operating normally. The Korea Railroad Corporation said it had started work on computer repair and inspection, and would take appropriate measures.
