Our ancient Chinese feng shui culture is broad and profound, and the use of feng shui knowledge has penetrated into almost all aspects of people's lives.
In the field of construction, the application of feng shui is even more extensive, and the ancients believed that the quality of the living environment determines the future fortune of the family, so we can see that the preparation before building a house is the most important.
When building a house, there is a saying in feng shui called "the white tiger wears through the hall, the family is ruined", what does the white tiger refer to here? Why does the white tiger pass through the hall and the family will be ruined?
Is this superstition or is it really true?
1. What is a white tiger?
The White Tiger, as the name suggests, is a white tiger.
In ancient times, due to people's lack of scientific and cultural knowledge, they were very surprised when they saw the white tiger, and there was also a white tiger among the four spirit animals in ancient mythology, so the white tiger gradually became a noun with a very valuable symbolic meaning.
People soon applied the white tiger to their lives, and the four ancient spirit animals were the Vermilion Bird, Xuanwu, Qinglong, and White Tiger. In myths and legends, the green dragon lives on the coast of the East China Sea, the Xuanwu lives in the north, the Suzaku is in the volcano in the south, and the white tiger is in the west.
In addition to this, in the five elements of yin and yang, the white tiger represents gold, which belongs to the feminine energy.
From the point of view of Feng Shui, the ascending of heaven and earth depends on yang energy, and yin energy only appears at night, so people are particularly vulnerable to yin energy at night.
Many people have this experience, even if they take off their clothes during the day, they don't feel cold, but when they get up at night to go to the toilet, even if they put on a piece of clothing, they will feel very cold, and they can't wait to get back to the bed.
Of course, we all know by now that because of the temperature difference between day and night, the night itself will be colder than the day; However, the ancients did not have a comprehensive understanding, and they believed that it was not because the temperature was lower at night, but because of the "yin qi".
Therefore, the characteristics of the white tiger are very clear, in addition to representing the direction of the west, it is also the concentration of yin qi.
Just imagine, if you don't pay attention to the white tiger position when building a house, it will lead to people living on the white tiger position, and of course they will have a bad life.
Most of the ancient civilian buildings were bungalows, and like the current high-rise buildings, they all paid attention to one sitting in the north and facing south, and many people did not understand what it meant.
In fact, it is very simple, such a house is sunny, and the sun is always available in the house.
Such a living environment not only has good scenery, but also good lighting, and the sunlight also has a sterilizing effect, so you will feel very comfortable living in such a house.
The house that does not face south, first of all, there is not enough sunshine, which will cause the house to be damp, and people living in it will feel that there is always a layer of slimy sweat on the surface of the skin, and the body feeling is very poor, and the house is also easy to mold.
People who live in such houses for a long time are not in good spirits, which is why good houses are sold more expensive.
Second, the white tiger wears through the hall, is the family really ruined?
At the residential level, the white tiger refers to the right side of the entire house, and the ancients believed that this place should not be too high or built far from the whole building.
Take the courtyard as an example, the room on the right is called the west room, and the area of this room must be smaller than the other rooms to ensure that the feng shui of the whole courtyard is correct.
If the room of the White Tiger is larger than the other rooms, or the orientation is protruding close to the gate, this belongs to the White Tiger Pressing Palace, which will destroy the pattern of this residence, and if you live for a long time, it will have an adverse effect.
The ancients believed that the white tiger position should be planned in this way, such as building some fish ponds or rockery flowing water on the white tiger position, these small landscapes have fish and birds, and will also attract some insects and cats and dogs, small animals form a simple ecosystem, and the vibrant scene can offset the heavy yin qi of the white tiger position.
The white tiger is the most taboo tall building, some people like to build a theater or observatory in the yard, if the high platform happens to be built on the white tiger seat, the family will be ruined, and there is a worry about life.
As the old saying goes, "The white tiger wears through the hall, and the family is ruined", which actually means that it is best not to have a passage through the hall at home.
Since this passage runs through the entire residence, every room can be exposed to the energy of the White Tiger Position, which means that the Yin Qi fills the entire residence, so it would be strange if the family was not ruined.
We can see that in many Chinese-style mansions, although they are also designed with a single line, they often have a stone screen or a low wall in the front yard not far from the entrance.
In front of the low wall, there is also a water tank for raising fish, which is also a solution to circumvent the white tiger position.
In the design of the horizontal hall, it is a passage starting from the door, and then the bedrooms and bathrooms are scattered around, which is a very unfavorable pattern.
Partitions should be set up at the entrance and corners, so that the curse of the white tiger position can be broken, so as to bless the family to live and work in peace and contentment.
Of course, there is a certain amount of experience in these statements.
If it is said that the construction of a bare passage directly will not only affect the mood, but also make the people who live here feel a little depressed; If the passage is too long, it will often gather cold and heavy "passing wind", and if the wind blows through the hall often, it will naturally be easy to get sick.
Therefore, the ancients felt that such a building structure was "unlucky", in fact, they did not understand the scientific truth in it, and could only judge why this pattern was not good through simple experience.
Therefore, you can make a partition in the long passage and raise some flowers and plants, which can not only effectively block the wind through the hall, but also be pleasing to the eye and enhance the mood of the residents.
The same is true for modern architecture.
3. Change the White Tiger to become the "King of Medicine"
It is rumored that the medicine king Sun Simiao was frail and sickly when he was a child, and he couldn't eat milk not long after he was born, even if he was forced to take it, he would vomit it out, and finally grew to three or four years old, and his body still did not improve at all.
According to historical records, it is said that Sun Simiao was often cold, repeatedly built medical doors, and spent all his family property on decoction and medicine.
In other words, Sun Simiao's parents almost spent all their family property in order to treat him, but it should be noted that what is Sun Simiao's disease? It's air-cooled.
This is very strange, a child, and he doesn't go far away, where is the wind and cold?
Someone suggested to the Sun family, saying that this may not be a physical problem, it is most likely a feng shui problem, and Sun Simiao's parents can't manage it so much, anyway, they spent a lot of money to hire a doctor, and Sun Simiao's body has not improved.
After Mr. Feng Shui came to Sun's house, he only glanced at it and pointed out that there was a problem with the layout of Sun's house.
It turned out that the Sun family's official passage ran through the entire courtyard, and in order to give Sun Simiao a place to play, the pavilion that was originally set on the center line was also moved to the right side, which aggravated the yin qi of the white tiger position.
At night, the cold air and yin qi were running around in the courtyard of the Sun family, and of course a child like Sun Simiao could not resist the invasion of yin qi, and it was "natural" to get sick.
In the end, the Sun family changed the pattern and dug a fish pond on the white tiger position, after which, Sun Simiao's illness miraculously cured, and finally lived for more than a hundred years, changed feng shui, and achieved a generation of medicine kings.
epilogue
Therefore, Feng Shui is not all feudal superstition, it contains certain scientific laws.
It's just that the scientific and technological level of the ancients was not so high, and they could not explain these phenomena with certain laws, so they could only look at the problem in a relatively superstitious way.
If you study it carefully, you will find that in fact, all kinds of sayings and traditions with a slight "superstitious" color left by our ancestors actually have certain scientific truths in them.
Of course, we can't blindly believe in the "superstitious part", but we can refer to the real scientific experience in it to improve our quality of life.
