On June 29 this year, Huanglong Village held the 6th Winter Melon Cultural Festival, which innovated and developed local characteristic culture through activities such as melon king competition, thousand-person melon banquet, and painted winter melon, which was warmly welcomed by many citizens. It is understood that at present, the planting area of black winter melon in Huanglong Village is about 700 acres, about 70 growers, and the annual output is about 60,000 catties.
Du Zhirui, a clerk of the Huanglong Village Committee in Beijiao Town, said that they established a winter melon cooperative in Huanglong Village about six years ago, and the leaders of the village committee led the villagers to plant winter melons. "We usually organize the members of the winter melon cooperative, hold meetings and discussions together, and also go out to learn to gain an in-depth understanding of planting technology, improve yield and quality, and ensure the brand of Huanglong winter melon."
