03 Why is there rain after the plum blossom?
First, thermal conditions. In summer, the sun is abundant, and the closer you get to the ground in the afternoon, the higher the temperature, the cold at the top and the hot air at the bottom, and the hot air rises, which is easy to produce convection. Second, Shanghai's geography. Shanghai is surrounded by water on three sides, providing ample water vapor. The difference in heat between land and sea also exacerbates convection. This is why, despite the control of the subtropical high, Shanghai is still prone to localized thundershowers in the afternoon under the condition of sunny days.
