Abstract art has developed into a unique set of aesthetics and iconography on the basis of the realistic painting system established by the West. From the German philosopher W. Wallinger's "Withdrawal and Emotional Transfer" to Wassily Kandinsky's promotion of "abstraction", geometric abstraction, lyrical abstraction, no matter what form of abstract painting, carries a sense of generalization and distance to the essence of things. Its essence is the internalized spiritual and emotional power, which is externalized by painting. In this era of information explosion and increasingly frequent cultural exchanges, art is constantly expanding the boundaries of our cognition in its unique way. The exhibition "A Thousand Waves: Unbounded Space" aims to construct infinite possibilities in unbounded space through a series of selected artworks.
Su Yi | Basic Shape-Red-20230102 on wood, oil on canvas, acrylic composite materialSize: 200×150cmYear: 2023Starting Price: RMB 105,000
Su Yi's works have the firmness of rational thinking, and the softness of female artists. Although her hard-edged style and minimalist attitude make the visual nature of the paintings more cold and mechanical, under her delicate expression level and effective use of color, the works present a more charming sense of agility and self-conscious visual aesthetics behind the contemplation. - Chen Wenji

Haipeng's paintings focus on the level of method. For him, what matters is not the world itself, but the perspective and method of seeing the world. His series of works "Between Yes and No" can be regarded as a representative of this aspect. He chooses traditional themes, such as water, stones, trees, clouds, etc., and uses the technique of boundary painting to re-implant tradition from the perspective of model construction and calculation, or in other words, to interpret the issues "related to tradition" in a way that departs from traditional aesthetics, so as to highlight the significance of the method. His works are complex, exquisite, and rigorous, quite in line with the classical style, but the replacement of methods has such a strange feeling, as if it is a new horizon. ——Chen Suping (Professor, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts)

Lu Hui's paintings and micro-landscapes are like close-ups of a camera, and the snowy scenes in the valleys, the winding vines, and the duckweed in the ponds are vividly depicted in detail in his paintings. His paintings absorb elements of photography and techniques from Western classical painting. He said: "In contrast, ancient landscapes emphasize macrocosm and outward, while I prefer microscopic and inward expression. ”
Lin Zihao | Take light-B12
Year: 2023
Material: Mixed material on canvas
尺寸:100 × 80 cm
Edition: (if any)

Starting bid: RMB 18,000
The work uses lattices to construct the picture, showing a kind of modeling habit that breaks the conventional painting, using the halo effect of each grid to create a visually comfortable picture, giving "light" a variety of meanings, but also a visual transformation of cultural meaning, and using form to convey meaning. The color is tiled and listed in the form of transparent color blocks, and the contrast of the color itself, hue and brightness is used to produce "light", and in this tile, the color blocks are also layered with layers of beauty, and the multi-layer superimposed color layers are used to create the space of the color blocks, and the "light" becomes more profound and mysterious through this space.
马晟哲 | 1024-NO.66
Year: 2024
Material: computer motherboard + resin + UV digital output + acrylic medium mixed material
Size: 25×25cm

Ma Shengzhe's "1024" series is a new series based on computer motherboards, and there is also a similar penetration and excavation of material life. These small-scale works of different sizes are limited by the ratio of length and width of the material itself, but these realistic and prescribed size conditions give vitality to the content production of the picture—making the painting cleverly place itself as an expansion and continuation of the life of the material, shaping the cold and mutilated electronic parts into a visual form worthy of simple viewing. At the same time, when we look from the side, we can clearly see the appearance of the panel itself, the combination of dots, lines and surfaces inside is different from the style conceived by the artist on the outer surface, it is the original layer of the individual material, it follows the patterned production process and is born in batches, and now, after discarding, processing and artistic appropriation, the abstract form of its electronic components is comparable to the painting picture of the outer surface full of the creative will of the individual. Here, the perceptual style of the individual is combined with the orderly form of electronic materials into a microscopic device with a multi-layered viewing dimension. - Qian Wenda
Wu Qian | Emerald 1
Year: 2023
Material: Mixed media on paper
Size: 119×119cm

Starting bid: RMB 59,500
The young Chinese artist chose to mix oil, green and white acrylic paints on canvases in medium and large sizes, using a precise system of colors through the flat and moto methods. In contrast to his previous artworks, which were dominated by black and electric blue, the dominant color of this exhibition is green. From the cosmic firmament to the swaying foliage of plants: a tranquil green – or more precisely a bright green – is interspersed with white columns that divide the canvas space, creating a criss-crossing grid like light moving through the treetops. - Professor Claudio Rocca
Publicize XA | Sequence-18#
Year: 2023
Material: acrylic on canvas
Size: 180×180cm
Signed: Zhang Yang XA . 2023
Starting bid: RMB 54,000
The Sequence series is derived from an understanding of Techno-style electronic music, which evokes visuals that are industrial, cold, tough or psychedelic. Exploring the direction of the image, it focuses on capturing the rhythmic flow of the surface texture of the object, and conveys it in a non-narrative way. The edge images of these "sugar-coated cannonballs" are not "meaningless" "decorations", their function and vision are an organic whole, that is, the edges do not exist independently, but are subordinate to a whole sequence together with the so-called subject objects. - Thank God
"Unbounded space" is an expectation and pursuit of art to transcend boundaries and break conventions. Art is free to engage in dialogue and blend with other fields. Whether it is combined with technology, philosophy or other art forms, it will show unprecedented innovation and expression. This unboundedness not only expands the possibilities of art, but also provides us with a new way of thinking and cognition.
