Recently, heavy rains have continued across the country, accompanied by humid and sultry weather, which is very prone to intestinal infectious diseases and various foodborne diseases, and children's ability to protect against bacteria is weak, how to prevent childhood infectious diseases?
At 15:00 on June 28 (Friday), the National Health Commission held a press conference in the press conference hall of Building 2 of the National Health Commission (No. 38, Beilishi Road, Xicheng District) to introduce the relevant situation of flood disaster prevention and health protection, and answer questions from reporters. Here's what it looks like for children.
Life protection
1. Dispose of garbage, sewage and sewage in a timely manner
In this process, we must do a good job of personal protection, wear rain boots, waterproof isolation gowns, rubber gloves, masks, eye shields and other equipment.
Use 500 mg/L chlorine-containing disinfectant to wipe down floors, walls, tables, chairs, doors and windows. If clothes and bedding are contaminated by floodwater, they can be soaked in 250 mg/L chlorine-containing disinfectant and then washed again; For mattresses, sofa cushions and other items that are inconvenient to clean and disinfect, they can be placed in the sun and then sprayed with 500 mg/L chlorine-containing disinfectant.
Humid environments are easy to breed bacteria, so be sure to open windows for ventilation indoors, and use dehumidifiers, electric fans and other items to speed up drying.
2. Ensure the safety of food and drinking water
After a flood, water sources may be contaminated with microorganisms (such as bacteria), agricultural or industrial wastewater, chemicals, and other pathogenic or substances that are not suitable for drinking, cleaning, or showering.
The sink at home should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and tableware such as knives, cutting boards, dishes and chopsticks can be sterilized by boiling, and the specific method is: after the water boils, put the tableware into the water and keep the water boiling for 15 minutes.
Based on the information from the water department, it can be confirmed whether the water source is safe to drink. If you're unsure, use bottled water for the time being, or boil or sterilize the water for cooking, washing, or bathing by using a household disinfection, cleaning, and water filtration device.
3. Anti-mosquito
Mosquito-borne diseases, mainly B viral encephalitis, can cause symptoms such as high fever, impaired consciousness, convulsions, and coma. To protect yourself from mosquito bites, use a mosquito net, wear long pants, socks and a long-sleeved shirt and spray insect repellent. To control mosquito populations, drain open containers, such as outdoor pots, pet food bowls, or buckets of all still water, as soon as possible.
Disease prevention
1. Intestinal infectious diseases such as typhoid fever and dysentery
After heavy rains, especially when floods or waterlogging are triggered, intestinal infectious diseases are most common, including typhoid, bacillary dysentery, other intestinal infectious diseases, and even leptospirosis.
Common symptoms of intestinal infections include chills, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, etc. The common manifestations of leptospirosis include cold and warm, body aches, fatigue, eye redness, leg pain, lymphatic enlargement, and fatigue is particularly obvious, which may be life-threatening if not treated in time.
Most intestinal infections occur due to "disease from the mouth", that is, drinking or eating contaminated water or food.
Precautionary measures:
Pay attention to the safety of food and water, and if possible, it is relatively safer to choose bottled water. Do not drink raw water, be sure to boil it before drinking.
Food must be washed and cooked, and fruits must be carefully washed before eating.
Under the guidance of the disease control department, do a good job of cleaning and disinfection of the environment.
Be sure to pay attention to personal hand hygiene and wash your hands before eating and after using the toilet.
Don't take fever, cold and other symptoms lightly, and seek medical attention in time to avoid minor illnesses from becoming major illnesses.
2. Eczema, dermatitis and other skin diseases
In addition to the common intestinal infectious diseases, there are also skin diseases such as maceration of hands and feet, eczema, summer dermatitis, folliculitis, etc., which often occur after heavy rains.
Skin diseases are mostly caused by prolonged skin exposure to polluted water sources or due to environmental pollution.
Precautionary measures:
After your body has been drenched or soaked in rain, remember to do these things:
Rinse and dry as soon as possible, especially under the armpits, groin, etc. Pay special attention to your feet, soak them in 1% salt water for half an hour before washing.
Check the skin for scratches and damages, disinfect the damaged areas with light salt water (about 1% concentration of salt water) or iodine wine, and rub some ointments and potions to prevent and control infection.
Armpits, groin, toe gaps and other areas where the stratum corneum is weak and prone to water accumulation can be puffed with talcum powder, prickly heat powder, etc., to make the skin dry as soon as possible.
3. Allergic asthma
The temperature and humidity of sauna days are ideal for the reproduction and growth of allergens such as fungi and molds, and when combined with low air pressure during thunderstorms, the concentration of allergens floating in the air will increase significantly.
Precautionary measures:
Asthmatic patients should minimize outdoor activities before a thunderstorm, and do not close doors and windows when it rains, because natural wind and rain can drive allergens away from the home.
If you are exposed to the sun and the temperature rises after rain, you may wish to wear a mask when you go out to prevent allergens.
In response to the heavy rain disaster, the Department of Pediatrics of Yueyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has launched the following traditional Chinese medicine program
1. Sachets are anti-mosquito and anti-flu
2. Traditional Chinese medicine medicated bath, local fumigation of traditional Chinese medicine: After the medicated bath, it can increase the content of certain immunoglobulins in the blood and enhance the elasticity and vitality of the skin.
3. Pediatric massage: through manual massage and stimulation of acupuncture points, promote the harmony of qi and blood, and achieve the purpose of enhancing immunity and treating diseases
4. Auricular acupuncture pressure beans: The use of traditional Chinese medicine Wang Buliu Xing seeds are pressed on the acupuncture points around the ear, so as to play a role in regulating nerve and immune function, and have the effect of disease prevention, disease treatment and epidemic prevention.
