The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) raised its travel warning: delusional toughness and cringe
On the Taiwan side, the Mainland Affairs Council announced on the 27th that it would upgrade travel to mainland China (including Hong Kong and Macao) to an "orange" alert, recommending that non-essential travel be avoided. The outside world generally believes that this is a "countermeasure measure" taken by the DPP authorities in response to the mainland's issuance of the "Opinions on Punishing According to Law the Crimes of Separatism and Inciting Separatism by 'Taiwan Independence' Diehards" (hereinafter referred to as the "Opinions"). However, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council immediately denied the relevant claims, saying that this move was "not a countermeasure" but to protect and remind the Taiwan people. In addition, in the press release, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council also noted that the relevant warnings are only "provided to the public as a reference, and have no mandatory binding force, and cannot be directly used as a basis for the people to terminate the contract with the company and refund the fee."
Huang Yangming, a veteran media person on the island, described that the DPP authorities, who advocate "Taiwan independence," took stock of their "toolbox" after seeing the promulgation of the "Opinions" on punishing "Taiwan independence," and in the end they only chose to raise the travel warning.
In fact, when Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council established a "travel warning mechanism" for mainland China in 2014, Hsu Ching-rui, chairman of Taiwan's Cross-Strait Travel Association, pointed out that in the past, most of the warning signs were raised due to natural disasters or special circumstances, but this time it is rare.
Perhaps in order to add a little legitimacy to this practice of using natural disaster response measures as a political tool, the DPP authorities denied that there was a strong connection between raising the travel warning and punishing "independence" measures, and even forcibly brought the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) into the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) when explaining it, and began to repeat the same old tune, smearing the Hong Kong National Security Law and Hong Kong's "Safeguarding National Security Ordinance".
Taiwan's "United Daily News" published a commentator's article describing the DPP authorities' "orange" travel warning message as "fearing that it will become an empty bomb." The article recalls that the establishment of the travel alert mechanism by Taiwan's administrative organs is a situation in which they hope to unify the situation in which different administrative departments issue their own alerts, so raising the travel alert is not the "exclusive authority and responsibility of the Mainland Affairs Council" of the Taiwan side. However, in the process of upgrading the "orange" signal, it is really impossible to see whether it has gone through the process of "coordinating and integrating relevant ministries", nor can it understand whether the promotion to the "orange" signal is based on the professional views provided by relevant departments or institutions, and through what process to integrate relevant opinions, and finally reach such conclusions. In other words, although the warning is issued by the Mainland Affairs Council, the risks must be borne by the people and the business owners, and if the people want to reason with the government or the government, they usually will not be able to get a bargain.
The article concludes by saying that the travel alert issued by Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council cannot at all become an economic incentive for people to travel to the mainland, and at the same time, it cannot produce any market effect on the consumption of relevant tour group fees, air tickets, accommodation, and insurance. Although the relevant industry operators are worried about the impact on the source of tourists about such meaningless nonsense by the MAC on the surface, in fact they are still leisurely and leisurely, and the fact that the industry has not proposed any countermeasures proves that it has no influence at all.
The article described that no matter how polite it is, the pressure is ineffective, and at the same time, it is even more revengeless, so it deliberately emphasizes that it is not a countermeasure, "I really don't know if it is self-deprecation, or if I have no choice but to be asked by my superiors to come forward to openly find trouble."

Lai Qingde showed weakness and cowardice and kidnapped Taiwan compatriots
When the "Opinions" were first issued, Lai Ching-de, the current leader of the Taiwan region, played "hidden" and did not squeak, and only Lin Youchang, secretary general of the Democratic Progressive Party, spoke on his behalf, and as soon as he opened his mouth, he kidnapped 23 million people in Taiwan, saying that "everyone is 'Taiwan independence.'" Relevant remarks caused an uproar in public opinion. Later, Lai Qingde amended it to mean that except for the "China Reunification Promotion Party," everyone else on the island was "Taiwan independence" and continued to coerce Taiwan compatriots by labeling. After a few days of brewing, the DPP authorities thought of a countermeasure - raising the travel alert. In this regard, Hong Kong's "China Review Press" described that although the DPP authorities claim that it is not a "countermeasure measure," everyone can see that this is a confrontational mentality and a self-inflicting measure that ignores the political and economic consequences, and is aimed at demonstrating intransigence, making cross-strait exchanges more difficult, and even blocking cross-strait exchanges.
Wu Rongyuan, chairman of the Workers' Party of Taiwan, said in an interview that this move shows that Lai Qingde is afraid of the mainland's punishment of "Taiwan independence" "Opinions", so he wants to hold Taiwanese hostage through invisible pressure, and raise the level of tourism risk warning, so that the people will have a wrong perception of the mainland, and then catalyze the contradictions between the enemy and ourselves, so as to achieve his political goals. He explained that Lai Qingde first put a label and then raised the warning light for mainland tourism to "do not go unless necessary", which is obviously to "one size fits all" and create a false perception that going to the mainland may be punished, and the people who still travel to the mainland under the raised warning level will have to bear some kind of "political pressure", and this is the political method of the DPP authorities.
Wu Rongyuan, chairman of the Workers' Party of Taiwan, China
Wu Rongyuan said that the relevant measures show that Lai Qingde was actually frightened by the "Opinions" issued by the mainland to punish "independence," and that Lai Qingde claims to be a "pragmatic 'Taiwan independence' worker," but relying on his status as the leader of the Taiwan region to hold Taiwan compatriots hostage to jointly face the mainland's sanctions on "Taiwan independence" is a manifestation of his lack of political morality, stand, and courage. If Lai Qingde thinks that "Taiwan independence" is a political mission that he must personally undertake, why should he use the Taiwan compatriots as a backing? The mainland's opinion clearly points out which type of person is "Taiwan independence," and as long as they abandon their erroneous "Taiwan independence" consciousness that deviates from the national stand, or no longer follow it, they will not be the target of investigation.
He appealed to Lai Ching-te that if he is really willing to undertake a mission of a specific significance for "Taiwan independence," even if it is wrong in history, he should face it bravely alone, instead of pulling all Taiwanese people to endorse it. This move proves that Lai Qingde knows that "Taiwan independence" has no confidence and a weak heart, so he has no choice but to obtain political dividends by intensifying Taiwan's internal confrontation.
Luo Zhiqiang, a representative of the Chinese Kuomintang, said in a political discussion program on the island that Lai Qingde's move showed his weakness and timidity, and he knew that "Taiwan independence" had no confidence, so he would bring everyone together to "accompany the funeral." He said that since he was elected, Lai Qingde has been taking the medicine of "resisting the mainland and protecting Taiwan," and this is the only card they have to maintain their power. He said that in the logic of the DPP, it would be too negligent to issue an "orange" alert, and that the DPP should return to the era of antagonism, and the two sides of the strait should henceforth cut off economic and trade exchanges, and should not think about the surplus of more than 100 billion yuan (NT$) from the mainland every year, and that tourism and business exchanges are not allowed.
In response, the Chinese Kuomintang pointed out that after Lai Qingde came to power, the two sides of the strait were left with only political shouting and military confrontation; A responsible authority should do its best to improve cross-strait relations so that the people on both sides of the strait can smoothly engage in exchange activities, instead of claiming to pursue peace and common prosperity while allowing the conflict to escalate, and then turning back to intimidate the people and absolve itself of responsibility for its own immorality and incompetence.
On the Taiwan side, the Mainland Affairs Council fights left and right?
When discussing the lifting of the travel alert in Taiwan, the island's political discussion program also invariably mentioned that the 35th Golden Melody Awards ceremony in Taiwan appeared today (29 July), and Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council has previously stated that a total of 8 mainland people have been shortlisted this year, a total of 16 awards have been shortlisted, and 26 mainland people have been approved to come to Taiwan to participate, and said that they welcome cross-strait music and film exchanges. Some analysts ridiculed that the Mainland Affairs Council on the Taiwan side, on the one hand, has raised its warning to the mainland, and on the other hand, it has approved mainland personages to come to Taiwan for exchanges, as if it has the quality of "multiple personalities."
What's more interesting is that Jude and Xu Jun, who were originally shortlisted for the best male singer in Chinese, were rumored to be on the red carpet scheduled list, but it was temporarily rumored that they were "unable to attend", the former responded through the agency for "personal reasons", and the latter said that "there are other work-related reasons".
Taiwan media reported with pictures
The appearance of wanting to show an open posture on the island, but temporarily stopping it, can't help but remind people that when actor Hu Ge, who was well-known on both sides of the strait, went to Taipei, there were rumors that the relevant personnel of the DPP had done some work in it, but they flatly denied it in public. The DPP authorities are well aware that the desire for exchanges and cooperation is the mainstream public opinion on the island, and blindly obstructing them will only make the already disadvantaged support rate worse. On the other hand, if they come to power by inciting cross-strait confrontation, if they conform too much to the mainstream public opinion of exchanges and cooperation, their "basic plate" will also be lost.
The petty political calculations will only put the DPP authorities in a dilemma, so it is better to jump out of their own wells to broaden their horizons and broaden their minds. For example, as the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said in response to mainland performers going to Taiwan to participate in the Golden Melody Awards, we are happy to see that industry players on both sides of the strait work together to continuously deepen the integration and development of cross-strait cultural fields. We hope to restore the normalization of cross-strait personnel exchanges and exchanges in various fields as soon as possible, so that singers and performers on both sides of the strait can have smooth exchanges and presenting more high-quality film and television music works to audiences on both sides of the strait.
