Korean News: More and more young people are suffering from hair loss

Two out of three men in their 20s and 30s in Korea believe they have hair loss, and three out of four buy hair loss-related products online.

According to the survey results, 2 out of 3 men in their twenties and thirties in South Korea feel that they have hair loss, and 3 out of 4 buy hair loss products online.

This trend was revealed in a study conducted by Professor Kim Min-shin (Jin Yu-bin) of Sookmyung Women's University's Department of Hyangjang Scholarship on the use and purchasing behavior of men in their 20s and 30s on the use of functional cosmetics to alleviate hair loss symptoms. This study was conducted based on a survey of 318 male consumers in their 20s and 30s in Korea who had used functional cosmetics to relieve hair loss symptoms.

This trend is reflected in the "Study on the Current Status and Purchasing Behavior of Men in Their Twenties and Thirties to Relieve Hair Loss Symptoms of Functional Cosmetics" conducted by Professor Kim Min-shin of the Department of Cosmetics at Sookmyung Women's University. The study surveyed 318 male consumers in their twenties and thirties in South Korea who had used functional cosmetics to relieve hair loss symptoms.

When asked if they think they currently have hair loss, 65.1 percent said yes. 56.0% of respondents cited functional products (cosmetics), 20.3% using hospitals, 14.0% (29 people), and 9.7% using a management room. The causes of scalp problems were hair loss (58.2%), excessive sebum (11.9%), itching (11.3%), dandruff (6.3%), dryness (5.7%), damaged hair (3.5%), and none (3.1%).

The product types were shampoo (52.2%), shampoo + conditioner (16.4%), shampoo + conditioner + tonic (14.2%), shampoo + tonic (14.2%), and tonic (1.6%).

The motivation for purchasing was 65.1% because it was necessary, 14.5% because of advertising, 9.4% because of the invitation from the surroundings, 4.4% for gifts, 4.1% because of others, and 2.5% because of the salesperson's recommendation. The educational background of those who participated in the survey was 61.3 percent enrolled in college or graduated, 17.3 percent enrolled in junior college, 12.3 percent graduated from high school, and 9.1 percent enrolled in graduate school. The average monthly income was 31.4 percent for those under 1 million won, 7.9 percent for those between 1 million and 2 million won, 28.3 percent for those between 2 million and 3 million won, 21.1 percent for those between 3 million and 4 million won, 4.7 percent for those between 4 million and 5 million won, and 6.6 percent for those over 5 million won.

61.3% of the respondents had college students/graduates, 17.3% had junior college students/graduates, 12.3% had high school students, and 9.1% had graduate students/graduates. The average monthly income is 31.4% for KRW 1 million or less, 7.9% for KRW 1 million ~ 2 million, 28.3% for KRW 2 million ~ 3 million, 21.1% for KRW 3 million ~ 4 million, 4.7% for KRW 4 million ~ 5 million, and 6.6% for KRW 5 million or more.
