As the temperature gradually rises, accidental drowning accidents among students have entered a period of high incidence. In order to further strengthen the school's drowning prevention safety education, improve students' self-rescue and mutual rescue skills, and enhance emergency avoidance capabilities, on June 18, Jietoumiao Central Primary School in Huanglong County organized a drowning prevention safety emergency drill. This activity aims to prepare students for sudden drowning incidents by simulating drowning scenarios, so that students can master basic escape essentials and rescue skills.
In order to ensure the effectiveness of the drill, the school formulated a perfect drill plan in advance, and created two simulation scenarios: the experience of holding breath in the water during drowning and the correct rescue during drowning.
Drill training
Before the drill, each class teacher explained the importance of drowning prevention to the students, emphasizing that drowning is the number one killer of accidental deaths of primary and secondary school students. Introduce the common causes of drowning, such as swimming in the river without permission, playing in the river, accidentally falling into the water, etc. Explain in detail how to prevent drowning, including not playing alone or in groups in dangerous waters such as rivers and ponds; Swim in a regular swimming place and be accompanied by a parent or teacher; Students who can't swim should not go into the water to rescue without permission.
Teacher Zhao Minnan also demonstrated how to use ropes, floating objects, bamboo poles and other tools to scientifically rescue drowning people. Teacher Zhao reminded students to stay calm when encountering a drowning accident, pay attention to the available items around them, such as bamboo poles, branches, clothing, foam blocks, waste drink bottles, etc., and actively seek adult help or call professional emergency numbers, and warned children not to rush into the water to rescue.
Breath-holding drills
In the simulated drowning breath-holding experience link, under the supervision of teacher Zhao Minnan, the students first took a deep breath, held their breath, and then completely immersed their heads and faces in the water, tried to hold their breath and endure, and experienced the feeling of drowning. After the experience, the students shared their feelings of choking. "I feel like I can't breathe", "It's very uncomfortable", "It's terrifying...... In the future, I will never dare to swim without permission, and I will stay away from dangerous waters such as rivers, ditches, ponds, and reservoirs.
Rescue drills
Under the guidance of Mr. Zhao, the children carried out a practical exercise of drowning rescue. In the simulation scene, a student suddenly drowned unexpectedly, and the emergency cry came quickly, and the students on the shore responded quickly after hearing the news, and immediately launched the rescue according to the rescue skills described before, using ropes, bamboo poles and other life-saving equipment to immediately carry out the rescue, and with the joint efforts of everyone, the drowning person was successfully rescued ashore. The students benefited a lot from the whole practical activity, and they all said that they would keep in mind what they had learned today, cherish life, and stay away from drowning.
After the drill, Teacher Wang Qing made a concluding speech, hoping that the students would keep in mind the "six prohibitions", "four don'ts" and "two musts" to prevent drowning, remember the teacher's teachings, cherish life, and stay away from danger.
Carry out drowning prevention drills and build a safety wall for nursing students. Through this drill and safety education, the students had a further understanding of the safety knowledge of drowning prevention and the basic self-rescue and mutual rescue methods. I believe that in the future, teachers and students will cherish life more, prevent drowning, and jointly create a safe and beautiful campus environment.
