A while ago, I went to climb the Simatai Great Wall with my friends, and I was a little scared and a little surprised.
In the past, every time friends and relatives came to Beijing, I would accompany them to climb the Great Wall, but I usually went to the Badaling Great Wall. Because the Badaling Great Wall is well repaired and the tourist facilities are complete, there is generally no danger.
This time, we wanted to do something different, so we chose to climb the Simatai Great Wall. The Simatai Great Wall is the only Great Wall in China that retains the original appearance of the Ming Dynasty, and has been praised by the British "Times" as the world's 25 most scenic spots, and also known as "the best of the Great Wall of China".
The Simatai Great Wall, built along the ridge, is almost the original and original present, without increasing protection, and it is not recommended to go to those who are afraid of heights and timid.
At present, the Simatai Great Wall is open from No. 1 to No. 10 beacon towers, and No. 9 and No. 10 beacon towers are the most difficult to climb. Here, you'll get a taste of what it means to "climb the Great Wall", where the sheer scale will force most visitors to climb it with their hands and feet.
The beacon tower here is generally guarded by staff, and when we climbed to the top of the No. 10 beacon tower, we met a staff member who was more talkative. It is from him that we learn a lot about the story of the Simatai Great Wall.
For example, according to the staff member, there has always been a pair of cranes living on the No. 12 beacon tower, which is not yet open. They live here all year round, and when the cranes are thirsty, they fly to the reservoir below to draw water.
For another example, when we climbed the Simatai Great Wall, we found that there were many semicircular stone pillars along the outside of the road. After asking this staff, I learned that it was built by the soldiers of the Ming Dynasty to protect the Great Wall and throw cobblestones at the enemy under the mountain.
The Simatai Great Wall is the crystallization of the wisdom of the ancients, and it is a miracle that our modern people are ashamed of standing on it. Therefore, when we climbed to the top to rest, we met someone who was particularly proud to ask the foreign friends who came to climb the Simatai Great Wall if our ancients were particularly powerful.
