IT Home reported on June 3 that according to Windows Latest, Microsoft is pushing a full-screen pop-up window to all Windows 10 users, reminding users to upgrade to Windows 11, including even those devices whose hardware does not support Win 11.

Windows 10 was released in 2015 and is still the dominant Windows operating system with a market share of nearly 70%, far surpassing Windows 11, which was released in 2021. IT Home noticed that although it has been nearly three years since the release of Win 11, the market share has not improved much. Microsoft plans to end support for Win 10 on October 14, 2025 and focus on the development of Win 11.
In order to attract more users to upgrade, Microsoft has pushed different upgrade pop-ups for users with different hardware configurations. Testing has shown that for devices that don't support Win 11, a pop-up will warn users that the device can't get the update and doesn't meet the upgrade requirements.
"Start a new journey for Windows," Microsoft said in a pop-up window thanking users for their continued support of Win 10 and informing them that Win 10 will end support on October 14, 2025, but will continue to receive security updates until then.
Unlike devices that don't support upgrades, devices that meet the requirements will have buttons to "Get Updates", "Schedule Upgrade", "Keep Win 10", and "Learn More". If you insist on choosing "Keep Win 10", Microsoft will also pop up four additional windows to try to convince users to upgrade. However, users can choose to "Decline Upgrade" to continue using Win 10, but the pop-up will reappear in a few weeks.
For those of you who are still sticking with Win 10, you have less than 16 months left to upgrade. If you don't upgrade to Win 11 or opt for the paid Extended Security Updates service, you will no longer be able to download and install monthly security updates after October 14, 2025. Microsoft said it will announce pricing for the Consumer Version Extended Security Update later this year, with ESU licenses currently costing $61 per device per year for enterprise licenses, doubling annually over the next three years.
