Do you know the story behind these pseudonyms?

During the years of the revolutionary war, due to the extremely harsh environment of struggle, incognito and changing face to face the enemy became an indispensable means of carrying out covert struggle. Turning over the magnificent history of hidden struggle, countless thunderous names are actually pseudonyms. A pseudonym is like a circle of ripples on the water, and the dense record generally records every fresh life, or publicity, or silence, or wit, or heroic, and records the thoughts when choosing a pseudonym, or passionate, or steady, or alert, or unrestrained. This is a special existence, a witness of history, and a power of faith.

Zhou Enlai

Wu Hao is the pseudonym of Zhou Enlai, the founder of our party's hidden front, and it is the homonym of the number "No. 5" when he drew lots to win the number when he led the Consciousness Society in Tianjin. Wu Hao was the most commonly used and influential pseudonym for Zhou Enlai when he presided over the central underground work in Shanghai. The "Haomi," our party's first radio communication code, compiled by him, was also taken from this name. In February 1932, the enemy who had been hunting for Zhou Enlai for a long time was so angry that he simply published an article entitled "Wu Hao and Others Leave the Communist Party" in several newspapers in Shanghai, in an attempt to confuse the public and create chaos in our party. The covert front skillfully carried out the struggle against public opinion, and through the French lawyer's "Declaration" published in the "Declaration" the "Urgent Notice of Ba He's Lawyer on Behalf of Zhou Shaoshan" to expose the enemy's conspiracy to slander and spread rumors, and to safeguard the political personality of our party leader. And the name "Zhou Shaoshan" is another pseudonym of Zhou Enlai. In addition, when Zhou Enlai carried out revolutionary activities in the white area, he also used pseudonyms such as Guansheng, Damei, Weisi, and Zhao Lai.

Chen yun

Li Jiesheng is a pseudonym specially used by Chen Yun when he led the work of the Central Special Branch of the Hidden Front Organization. In April 1931, Gu Shunzhang rebelled, and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to adjust the organization of the Central Special Branch, and transferred Chen Yun to serve as the head of the Special Branch. During his work in Special Branch, Chen Yun worked under the pseudonym "Li Jiesheng". In addition, Chen Yun has used pseudonyms such as Huaimin, Chen Heng, Chen Ming, Jin Sheng, Liao Zhongren, Huang Su, Liao Jiajun, and Liao Chenyun. Not only do people need pseudonyms as cover, but institutions also need them. At that time, Chen Yun set up a number of cover organizations, such as the "Xinsheng Printing Office" and the "Yuda South Goods Store," which provided appropriate public identities and names for the special branch comrades who were working under pseudonyms, and played a very good role in covering the special branch activities.

Items and years

In the war-torn revolutionary years, many unsung heroes of the hidden front went deep into the tiger's den, left their homes, and were separated from their loved ones. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, they embarked on a journey to find their relatives, but they encountered difficulties due to the long-term use of pseudonyms.

Comrade Xiang Younian of the Central Special Branch learned that his son, who was separated in Shanghai in his early years, also participated in the revolution and may now be in the Anhui Youth League Committee. So he entrusted his old comrade-in-arms, Zeng Xisheng, then secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, to find his son. Zeng Xisheng immediately handed over this task to Xiang Nan, who was in charge of the work of the regiment. Because Xiang Younian has been using the pseudonym "Liang Mingde" since the Teko period, out of secrecy, he did not disclose his pseudonym to his family, nor did he disclose his real name to his comrades-in-arms, resulting in "no such person" from the surname "Liang". Not wanting to talk, Zeng Xisheng found that Xiang Nan in front of him and his old comrade-in-arms Liang Mingde were both from Fujian, and they had also lived in the area of Baxian Bridge in Shanghai Great World, and their addresses were also a secret contact point of the Shanghai underground organization back then. It turned out that Xiang Nan was the son his old comrade-in-arms was looking for! His original name was Xiang Dechong, who joined the Communist Party in the autumn of 1938 and gave himself a pseudonym when he was engaged in underground work, called Xiang Nan. In this way, two generations of revolutionary aspirants unanimously and unswervingly went to the revolution together in the special era, leaving a good story of "Xiang Nan looking for Xiang Nan".

The name of faith

There are also some pseudonyms of the predecessors of the hidden front, which are not only used to cover the security of work and organization, but also to a certain extent express their revolutionary aspirations and beautiful visions. For example, Xu Jianguo, one of the leaders of the party's hidden front, was formerly known as Du Liqing, and his pseudonym was taken to Xu Guo. The martyr Zhu Feng who died in Taiwan was originally named Zhu Yiyin, and his pseudonym was taken from his heart to red, which means sincerity.

If the pseudonyms of all the comrades engaged in the struggle on the hidden front are listed on paper, without deliberately interspersing, it will be a magnificent epic of the hidden struggle. The mountains testify that this is the name of loyalty; This is the name of faith.
