Jiangcheng Wuhan, the sky in early summer is full of white clouds, the sun is lazy, the breeze is gentle, for a trip that says go, the time and place are favorable, everything is ready only to owe the "east wind". So what is the "east wind"? The author thinks it is the courage to go. As a result, a long-planned (11 years) and unprecedented challenge (144 minutes, 25 kilometers) of a single bicycle around the lake (Huangjia Lake) exploration and cycling tour kicked off.

Huangjia Lake, located in the south of Wuchang in Wuhan City, may be an inconspicuous small and medium-sized lake in Hubei, the province of thousands of lakes, but it is a treasure-level existence in the southern Baishazhou area of Wuchang. Because of this, local residents have more expectations for Huangjia Lake, especially when they see the beauty of East Lake.

However, the beauty of East Lake has no dead ends, but Huangjia Lake is "a corner of beauty". This "corner" is the southeast corner of Huangjia Lake, that is, the military sports village area, which has not shaken its status for so many years since the 2019 Military Games.

The author's trip starts from Hall A of Baisha Tianjie, Fengsheng Road, Baishazhou, goes south along Fengsheng Road to the north shore of Huangjiahu Lake, then goes east to Huangjiahu Avenue, along the east bank of Huangjiahu Lake (Huangjiahu Avenue, Huangjiahu East Road) all the way south to the south shore of Huangjiahu Lake, and then connects with the west bank of Huangjiahu Lake (Huangjiahu West Road) along the greenway and municipal roads (Leopard Hill Street, Industry 2nd Road, etc.) on the south bank of Huangjiahu Lake, and returns clockwise to the starting point along Huangjiahu West Road. This road can be described as full of hardships and challenges, because the Huangjiahu Greenway has not been looped, and once it encounters a broken road, it has to choose another road. The unconnected part of the greenway around the lake is mainly based on the west section of the north shore of Huangjia Lake and the west section of the south bank, and the journey is 25.2 kilometers and takes 144 minutes, which is the highest record of the author's riding in the past ten years.

In fact, the author had a low expectation before leaving, as expected. The development of the north shore of Huangjia Lake has almost stagnated, and it is even suspected of regression. Originally, Fengsheng Road (Shuangqin 2nd Road) Avenue went directly to the lake, but now it is a sheep intestine path, and there are endless construction sites next to the trail, and the lake road is even more pitiful. Riding on the North Shore was nothing pleasant, and the trip to the North Shore had to be hasty. For the author, the only thing to see on the North Shore is the lotus. But for anglers, a few small fishing grounds on the east side of the north shore are true love.

For the east shore of Huangjia Lake, the development of the north and south sides is seriously differentiated. It is roughly bounded by the military transport road of the military transport village, and there is basically no sight in the north, and the essence of the whole Huangjia Lake is in the south. I have to say that Huangjiahu Avenue lives up to its name, with a total of 8-10 lanes in both directions, which is a high-standard landscape avenue, and the construction is very forward-looking.

The slogan of "Huangjiahu University Town" used to be shouted loudly, but now it seems that it is rarely mentioned again. But I have to say that Huangjia Lake has this condition and strength. On the east bank of Huangjia Lake, there are East Lake University, Wuhan University, Wuhan City Vocational College, etc., and on the west bank, there are China Ship Research and Design Center, Wuhan Transportation Vocational College, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wuhan Institute of Technology and Business and other universities and scientific research institutions. The scientific and cultural atmosphere around Huangjiahu Lake is really strong, but there is little publicity at present, and people are even prejudiced against this area.

Since the opening of the second phase of Wuhan Rail Transit Line 5 on December 1, 2023, the west bank of Huangjia Lake and its surrounding areas have become more and more convenient to travel, providing infrastructure support for integration into the main urban area. As you can see from the photos, Hongxia Station, as a new starting point, is an elevated station, but it still has a certain sense of design.
