Advocating traffic safety as a compulsory course for students Mercedes-Benz Star Fund and authoritative organizations released the 2.0 version of the Blue Book of Children's Traffic Safety in China

Student safety is a systematic project, and it is also related to the happiness of thousands of families. "Embed traffic safety knowledge into daily courses and make it a compulsory course for students, so that the true meaning of traffic safety education can enter the campus and form a long-term and effective publicity and education mechanism." Recently, an initiative has once again aroused social concern.

On the eve of Children's Day 2024, Mercedes-Benz Star Fund, together with the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security and China Children's Press and Publication, released the "Blue Book Series on Children's Traffic Safety in China: Research Report on Traffic Safety Education for Primary and Secondary School Students" (hereinafter referred to as the "Blue Book") to present Children's Day. It is worth mentioning that the three parties conducted an in-depth investigation of traffic safety education for primary and secondary school students in mainland China for the first time, focusing on the three core issues of "what to teach", "who will teach" and "how to teach", emphasizing the establishment of a "police, school, home" multi-education collaborative education model that takes the school as the main position of traffic safety education, and advocated the inclusion of traffic safety education in the school's formal curriculum system.

As the first authoritative book in the field of traffic safety education for minors in China, the Blue Book aims to help young people establish a correct outlook on life and safety, change the current situation of "emphasizing propaganda and ignoring education" in traffic safety education, and provide a comprehensive education content system and practical guidance, so as to promote the wide participation of all sectors of society in children's traffic safety education.

Wan Xuejun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Youth Development Foundation, said: "Young people are the future of the country and the hope of the nation, and it is our common responsibility to strengthen traffic safety education for young people and let them grow up safely and healthily. Since 2010, when the China Youth Development Foundation and Mercedes-Benz jointly established the Wishing Star Fund, the cooperation between the two sides has been deepening. The second Blue Book is another collaboration between the two parties and authoritative partners, helping to raise the attention of the whole society to youth traffic safety education, and providing a reference example for schools, parents and society, so that the importance of traffic safety education can be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. ”

Zhu Jian'an, head of the Traffic Safety Publicity and Education Research Department of the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security, said: "The Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security, the China Children's Press and Publication Group, and the Mercedes-Benz Star Wish Fund of the China Youth Development Foundation have combined the deployment requirements of the Student Traffic Safety Improvement Action Plan (2023-2026) issued by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education on the implementation of the school traffic safety publicity and education improvement project. For the first time, this paper studies and analyzes how traffic safety knowledge is combined with school classrooms and curriculum standards, hoping to change the situation of 'emphasizing activity publicity and ignoring professional education' in students' traffic safety education in the past. This book will focus on the three core issues of 'what to teach', 'who will teach' and 'how to teach' of students' traffic safety education, and provide a comprehensive education content system and practical guidance. It is hoped that through this blue book, the police, schools, families, and social forces will work together to protect the lives and safety of minors. ”

According to Zhang Yan, Chairman of the Management Committee of Mercedes-Benz Star Fund and Senior Executive Vice President of Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales and Service Co., Ltd., "12 years ago, Mercedes-Benz officially introduced the world's earliest and most influential children's road safety project 'Safe Children's Walk' into China to help China's children's road safety education. In the past 12 years, the school-based curriculum developed by the project has covered 210 schools across the country, and more than 820 safety-themed public welfare activities have been implemented through dealer community public welfare bases across the country, with more than 30,000 people participating. It is reported that this year's "June 1st", Mercedes-Benz joined hands with the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security and the China Children's Press and Publication Group to launch the second volume of the Blue Book, committed to promoting the construction of a scientific and authoritative children's traffic safety education system, and working with all sectors of society to practice corporate social responsibility and help cultivate responsible future road users.

Path: Based on the campus position, it will drive the linkage of 'police, school, and home' and the practice of science and profession

Zhang Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of China Children's Press and Publication Group Co., Ltd., said: "With the tenet of 'For Children, for the Future, for the Motherland and for the World', China Children's Press and Publication Group has been working with the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security and the Mercedes-Benz Star Wish Fund to continuously explore traffic safety education for children with the 'Traffic Safety Experience Course' as the core. In the future, we will continue to base ourselves on the campus position, drive the linkage of 'police, school, and home' and scientific professional practice, so that the awareness of traffic safety and civilization can take root in the hearts of children and jointly protect a better tomorrow." ”

"Through the coordination of multiple education and the optimization of the education content system, the Mercedes-Benz Star Fund, together with the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security and the China Children's Press and Publication Group, released the second blue book to promote the construction of a scientific and authoritative children's traffic safety education system, and to promote children's traffic safety education from the core." An industry person who participated in the event said in an interview with reporters.

In 2022, Mercedes-Benz Star Fund, together with the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security and the China Children's Press and Publication Group, released the first Blue Book. On the basis of the research of the first Blue Book, the second Blue Book actively responds to the "Student Traffic Safety Improvement Action", emphasizing the "police, school, and family" multi-education collaborative education model that takes schools as the main front of traffic safety education, and promotes the long-term development of "children's traffic safety education". The Blue Book invites experts in the field of traffic safety, education experts, and front-line teachers to gain in-depth insights into data and cases, and provide practical guidance on children's traffic safety education for different social groups to protect travel safety.

Focusing on the three core issues of "what to teach", "how to teach" and "who to teach" in children's traffic safety education, the Blue Book suggests that firstly, we should focus on "what to teach": implement the content paradigm of "age and stratification" of traffic safety education; Secondly, for "who will teach": emphasizing the establishment of a "police, school, family" multi-education collaborative education model with the school as the main front of education; Finally, for "how to teach": clarify the theoretical basis and implementation strategy for the implementers of traffic safety education.

Results: The course covered 210 schools across the country, and more than 30,000 people participated in the activities

According to relevant information, as one of the earliest car brands to pay attention to children's traffic safety, Mercedes-Benz introduced one of the world's earliest and most influential children's road traffic safety projects "Safe Children's Walking" into China in 2012, deeply cultivating the two fields of theory and practice, and carrying out localized and diversified children's traffic safety education. As one of the key contents of the "Safe Kids" project, the Blue Book series helps to consolidate the theoretical and policy foundation from an authoritative and macro social perspective. Another key activity, "Children Talk, Works", aims to address children's needs from a micro perspective and encourage them to contribute to safe travel.

In addition, the "Safe Kids" project has penetrated into the two frontlines of education in schools and communities to create a diversified road traffic safety education paradigm. Since 2012, the school-based curriculum developed by the project has covered 210 schools across the country, carried out more than 800 traffic safety experience classes, and trained nearly 2,000 teachers. Since 2016, relying on the network of authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers, the project has continued to radiate to community families and institutions, providing safety education and popular science courses for teenagers and children, and has so far supported dealer partners to carry out more than 820 safety public welfare activities, with more than 30,000 participants.

Mercedes-Benz said that as the inventor of the automobile, Mercedes-Benz has continued to lead the industry in innovation and change for 138 years to protect traffic safety: looking back, Mercedes-Benz engineer Béla Barnyi, known as the "father of passive safety of automobiles", first proposed the concept of "safe body" in 1951; In the 90s of the last century, Mercedes-Benz put forward the concept of "holistic safety", which integrates active safety and passive safety to provide drivers and passengers with safety protection throughout the process. Looking to the future, Mercedes-Benz will strive to achieve its vision of "zero fatal traffic accidents" by 2050.

According to reports, protecting traffic safety is one of the important concepts rooted in the Mercedes-Benz brand. No matter how the times go by and how technology changes, Mercedes-Benz will spare no effort to defend traffic safety, so that everyone who goes to a distant place can arrive safely and Mercedes with peace of mind.
