Recently, Mr. Wang, a citizen, brought his 1-year-old son to the dermatology department of Leshan People's Hospital for treatment. After the doctor lifted the child's clothes, he found a small black spot on the child's waist and crotch, and the surrounding skin was red.

"The blue-black worm-like thing in this picture is the tick we took from the child." Qi Xinyu, a dermatologist at Leshan People's Hospital, said that judging from its morphology, it should be a larva, and when it was taken off, its mouthparts were pierced very deeply.

Coincidentally, in early May, a 5-year-old girl was led by her father to the hospital and was also found to have been bitten by a tick. At that time, the doctor looked under the dermoscopy and the tick was sucking blood! When the tick is found, the doctor applies an anesthetic ointment to the area where the tick is attached, paralyzes the tick, carefully pulls it out completely with tweezers, and finally carefully examines the mouthparts with a dermatoscope.

According to doctors, ticks are a blood-sucking parasite that carries a lot of viruses and bacteria, and after a person is bitten by a tick, it can cause symptoms such as allergies, ulcers or inflammation, and the biggest harm is that it is easy to spread bacteria and viruses, and in severe cases, it may cause paralysis and even death.

It is understood that ticks are generally active from April to October, and mostly live in forests, shrubs, grasslands, mountains and other environments.
