In a silk reeling factory in Hechi, Guangxi, the newly acquired silkworm cocoons are neatly coiled into bundles of silky raw silk after boiling cocoons and reeling silk. In the first quarter of this year, the factory sold 20 percent more raw silk than last year, the person in charge said.
Yuan Yi, administrative director of a silk co., LTD. in Guangxi: About 1.5 tons of silk are made a day, and about 10 tons of cocoons are needed. The cocoons are still a little nervous, and we go outside every year to transfer raw materials for processing.
Industry insiders said that in recent years, the demand for raw silk has gradually increased, but the area of mulberry gardens in most parts of the country has not increased. In the short term, there is a gap in the supply of silkworm cocoons, and high-quality silkworm cocoons from some origins have become sought-after goods.
Wei Wei, deputy director of Guangxi Sericulture Technology Promotion Station: There are more raw materials for processing, which leads to the tight cocoon of raw materials as soon as the first quarter starts.
According to the data, as of May 11, the price index of the national benchmark new silkworm was 624.66 points, which continued to run at a high level. According to the analysis of industry insiders, with the cocoons of Sichuan, Anhui, Shaanxi and other places will be listed in late May, the purchase price of silkworm cocoons in various places has gradually stabilized.
