On May 18, the 21st China Tianjin Huangyaguan Great Wall International Marathon Tourism Event was held in the Huangyaguan Great Wall Scenic Area, with nearly 3,000 marathon enthusiasts from more than 20 countries and regions participating in the competition, which is one of the important measures for "sports + cultural tourism" to empower rural revitalization in Jizhou District.
Follow in the footsteps of the athletes through the village, along the way the environment is beautiful, the roads are clean and tidy. Halfway through the marathon, we came to the north bank of Guojiagou Reservoir, where the newly built Huanshan Lake Scenic Area is located, with a total length of 3,000 meters of alpine glass rafting attracting the attention of many tourists. Looking south from the Guojiagou Reservoir, the picturesque village of Guojiagou lies between the valleys. At the end of 2022, Guojiagou became the first national 4A-level tourist attraction in Tianjin, a small mountain village with a per capita income of less than 10,000 yuan, and now the annual per capita income has reached nearly 100,000 yuan, and the collective income of the village exceeds 3 million yuan.
In July 2022, the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism took the lead in compiling the "Great Wall National Cultural Park (Tianjin Section) Construction and Protection Plan", and as one of the seven recent projects, the brand building of the Tianjin Huangyaguan Great Wall International Marathon was included in the key projects at the national level. Focusing on the marathon tourism activities, 9 villages along the route have implemented road construction, landscaping and lighting projects, with a total investment of 120 million yuan.
The construction of the project promotes the development of the cultural tourism industry. Through the three-year construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park (Tianjin Section), the infrastructure of the Huangyaguan Great Wall Museum has been continuously upgraded and renovated, and the Qijiajun Weapons Exhibition, War Horse Riding and Dressing Experience, and the Former Residence Museum of the Anti-Japanese Hero Lu Yulan have been launched, and immersive experience projects such as the "Daming Border Fortress" New Year Folk Culture Theme Park, the National Style Festival, and the Night Tour of Huangyaguan have been launched. Located in Qingshanling Village, Xiaying Town, the Zhanbei Cave Scenic Area has built a light show in the cave, red education scenes, etc., and Jim Adventure World in Tuanshanzi Village has created a theme park integrating an outdoor sports experience park, a nature education park and a parent-child entertainment and leisure park.
The scenic area has been renovated and rural development has been revitalized, and characteristic tourist villages represented by Huangyaguan Village and Guojiagou Village have emerged along the Great Wall Scenic Area, and there is an endless stream of tourists in the peak tourist season. It is understood that there are currently 20 boutique homestays and 196 farmhouses along the Great Wall of Huangyaguan, with an operating income of more than 3,500 yuan in 2023.
