On May 18, the 2024 "East Column Little Soldiers" Red Summer Camp was officially launched at the Memorial Hall of the Dongjiang Column in Guangdong. The event was guided by the Propaganda Department of the Dongguan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, hosted by the Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports (Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics), and undertaken by the Guangdong Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall.
This year's Red Summer Camp for Little Warriors in the East Vertical actively responds to the "Patriotism Education Law of the People's Republic of China" implemented by the state from January 1, 2024. Focusing on the theme of "Don't forget the original intention and forge ahead - carry forward the spirit of the East Vertical", the activities educate and guide young people in the new era to stimulate their patriotic feelings and carry forward the spirit of the East Vertical through military development practice links such as historical knowledge learning, simulated pre-war deployment, and offensive and defensive drills. In order to cultivate and enhance the feelings of young people for the Chinese nation and the great motherland, inherit the national spirit, enhance the national concept, and help build the brand of "Erudite Dongguan".
The theme of the first summer camp was "Knowing the History of the Dongjiang Column and Absorbing the Power of Wisdom". After rigorous outdoor training and a deeper understanding of the history of the Dongjiang Column, the young soldiers who entered the camp experienced special military activities such as throwing grenades, firing mortars and rockets (all experience models). The little warriors gain enlightenment and wisdom from it, and gather strength for the road of future growth.
International Museum Day is celebrated on 18 May, and the theme of this year's International Museum Day is "Museums Committed to Education and Research". As the largest and highest-level anti-Japanese war museum in Guangdong Province, the Memorial Hall of the Dongjiang Column in Guangdong Province is committed to providing comprehensive patriotic education and national defense education to young people. Since its inception in 2006, the "Little Warriors of the East Column" Red Summer Camp has deeply activated the use of the red resources of the venue and the former site of the Dalingshan Anti-Japanese Base, and through the semi-militarized summer camp that integrates the dissemination of historical knowledge and outdoor development training, so that young people can experience the hard years of the Anti-Japanese War and consciously feel the firm belief of the Dongjiang Column in defying difficulties and making unremitting efforts.
The East Longitudinal Memorial Hall will promote the patriotic education of young people, lead young people to enhance their sense of historical responsibility and mission, stimulate patriotism, and set up the will to serve the country.
