Surprise! The baby in confinement, even has to control weight gain?

author:Lactation nutrition Wang Wenli

When feeding their babies, mothers especially want their babies to eat more and grow more.

But in reality, sometimes it grows too fast, too much, and it worries us too!

In the early years, it is the time when the number of fat cells grows, for example, 10 cells are grown by normal feeding, and 15 or 20 are grown by babies who eat too well. When everyone is an adult, the fat cells begin to store energy, and when they become larger and expander, the baby with more fat cells will be easier to store energy than others, because she/his fat cell base is large, and it is naturally easier to become fat.

For the sake of future health, we should pay attention to it from an early age.

Today, I would like to share with you a case of a baby who grows too good.

Rounded the ward with the pediatrician, and when we saw the baby, she was exactly 15 days old. At birth, I lose a lot of weight, and I return to my birth weight in about 7 days. By 15 days, the weight had increased by 400 g compared to the time of birth.

The mother reported that the baby's appetite is very good, and the baby always feels that the baby is not full. Every 2-3 hours, they will ask for milk.

Because when breastfeeding, the baby will refuse the mother's breast, so the mother will express the breast milk and pour it into the bottle to feed, because the breast milk can not fully meet the demand for the time being, so the mixed feeding method of breast milk + milk powder is adopted. You can eat 90-100ml of milk at each meal, and after each meal, the baby will sleep peacefully.

Seeing this, many people may think it's very good, fat and fat, eat and sleep, what an angel baby!

However, both the doctor and I said that it is recommended that the mother control the rate of weight gain of the baby.

Not all babies beg for more milk, so they give so much.

Here you may have questions, doesn't it mean feeding on demand? Isn't on-demand feeding just what the baby wants, just give it? People's babies are eating well now, why do they need to control it? When we say on-demand feeding, we mean breastfeeding, and if you want it, I'll give it. If it is mixed feeding, it may lead to overfeeding.

Bottle feeding does not require much force from the baby, or even force (the bottle with a larger milk hole will flow out of the milk by itself), and you can eat milk. It's a lot easier than sucking on your mother's nipples. You can drink 100ML within 10 minutes, if you change to kissing, it must not be unilateral for 20 minutes, and it takes 40-60 minutes to get a kiss feeding. Bottle feeding, let the baby drink and drink, fill and fill, after drinking, satisfied to sleep, it is likely that the blood sugar is too high after eating too much, and he falls asleep groggily. This one is really bad!

Bottle feeding is not like kissing, because the feeding time is short, the baby's appetite may not be satisfied, and she/he may be a little insecure and want to suck on the nipple. So, the more you suck, the more your bottle-fed baby will consume.

In a situation like this, try this tweak:

  1. At each feeding, breastfeed first and wait for your baby to suck on your breast first.

But the baby who is used to eating the bottle, most of them will not obediently suck the mother's breast, the baby is very smart, knows that there is a bottle behind, many times he feeds her/he will go through the motions, eat an appetizer, and wait for the big meal behind. But don't be discouraged mothers, isn't raising a child a battle of wits and courage?

Either way, kiss first!

Satisfy her/his appetite and satisfy most of the milk needs before bottle feeding.

2. When feeding with a bottle, use the speed-controlled bottle feeding method to mimic the feeling of feeding as much as possible (see Bottle feeding = nipple confusion?). Bottle-fed babies will refuse mother's breast).

Feed slowly, don't fill, and take it away when the baby doesn't want to eat.

3. Try not to add extra milk powder during the day, and feed the baby's unfinished milk to him/her.

More running-in, more attempts, you can correct the baby's needs.
