Shenzhen News Network, May 17, 2024 (Reporter Tong Xiaojin) On May 15, 2024, the exhibition "Cang Run-Wen Xiang's Lacquer Bone and Ink Heart" hosted by He Xiangning Art Museum was exhibited in Exhibition Hall 7-8 of He Xiangning Art Museum. The exhibition is divided into two sections, "Ink Heart" and "Lacquer Bone", and displays more than 50 ink and lacquer paintings by artist Wen Xiang.

In the 80s of the 20th century, when most creators tended to apply the language of Western modern art to traditional Chinese painting, Wen Xiang chose to find a new way and tried to add elements such as "design" and "practicality" to traditional Chinese painting. Wen Xiang studied and copied traditional paintings in the Palace Museum in the early days, and went to many places to sketch with painters such as Ya Ming and He Haixia, and later went to Japan to study landscape painting and flower and bird painting, and was deeply influenced by the Japanese painting art style, combining the two creative media of "lacquer" and "ink" to create more than 40 landscape works, which he named "lacquer ink landscape".

After that, Wen Xiang did not stop trying new creative directions. In his later years, he gradually shifted from the practice of arts and crafts to the creation of landscape painting. During the period of tracing the origin and flow of ancient Chinese artworks, he also kept close to reality through continuous sketching, and his works also have both the "ancient rhyme" learned from antiquity and the "vitality" of sketching. Wen Xiang's paintings of flowers and birds reflect the artist's subtle observation of ordinary things in life, and together with his landscape paintings, he shows his attitude and care for the world. Throughout his career, Wen Xiang has tried to experiment in different directions many times, and his love for Chinese ink painting and his innovative spirit of active experimentation have been consistent throughout.
