Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Central Committee and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, continued his trip to Macao on 17 May, visiting tertiary institutions, science and technology parks, and medical institutions.

Accompanied by the Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, Mr Ho Iat Seng, first met with some members of the Islands District Community Services Advisory Committee in the morning to listen to their views and suggestions on the sustainable development and enhancement of people's livelihood in the district.

Mr. Xia Baolong exchanged views with some members of the Community Service Advisory Committee of Macao Islands District.

Accompanied by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ao Ieong U, Director Xia and the Chief Executive visited Macau University of Science and Technology to inspect the Smart Service Platform and the History Room, and then transferred to the Innovation and Technology Centre of Macau University to listen to the presentation of various scientific research projects. Director Xia then visited the University of Macau (UM) to inspect the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines and its research projects, as well as to visit the Ancient Books Library of the UM Library.

Director Xia Baolong visited the University of Macau.

In the afternoon, Mr. Xia, accompanied by the Chief Executive and Secretary Ouyang Yu, continued to conduct an inspection and investigation. First of all, they visited the Macau Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, where they visited the regular operating room, the integrated hybrid operating room, the international ward and the radiotherapy center to understand the role of the hospital in helping to improve the overall medical standard and develop the big health industry in Macao.

Director Xia Baolong inspected the Macau Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College Hospital.

Mr Xia and the Chief Executive then proceeded to the Nanyue Science and Technology Park, where they were briefed on the operation of the Park, accompanied by the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lee Wai Nong, inspected the production equipment and related processes of the Chinese Medicine Factory, and visited and investigated the development of "Macao Brands", "Made in Macao" and homegrown enterprises in the Park.

Afterwards, Mr Ha, accompanied by the Chief Executive and the Secretary for Ao Yeung Yu, went to downtown Coloane to talk to the proprietor of the egg tart shop, which is popular with tourists, to learn more about the production process and operation of the Portuguese tart which is famous at home and abroad. Director Xia then went to the Lychee Wan Shipyard area to learn about the effects of the revitalization of the old area on the development of cultural tourism projects. Finally, the group visited the famous Hac Sand Beach to experience Macau's natural tourism resources.
