author:Commercial vehicles in the world

In the case of Springer Nature Group and Arthur Brown, In the "2024 Automotive Industry Sustainability Awards" jointly organized by D. Little Consulting, ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions won two industry awards for its efforts and contributions to environmental sustainability. ZF's next-generation two-motor central electric drive system, the CeTrax 2 dual, was recognized for its ingenuity in the electrification of commercial vehicles, while ZF's Bielefeld plant in Germany was awarded for its innovative approach to remanufacturing. The Automotive Industry Sustainability Award is presented by the publisher Springer Nature Group and the award from the international consulting firm Arthur Brown. The award was presented jointly by D. Little's sustainability industry experts in recognition of outstanding examples of sustainability contributions in the automotive industry.

ZF was awarded to Springer Nature and Arthur Friedrichshafen 2024 Automotive Industry Sustainability Award from D. Little Consulting.

Winfried Gründler, Senior Vice President of the Transmission Technology Product Line at ZF's Commercial Vehicle Solutions division, said: "This award is a strong recognition of our strong commitment to environmental sustainability. Whether it's the remanufacturing of old components or the development of new solutions for electric drives, we are integrating innovative and sustainable practices into industrial processes, demonstrating that the combination of environmental responsibility and technological innovation can make a significant contribution to resource conservation and energy efficiency. ”

CeTrax 2 dual dual motor drive: Advancing zero-emission mobility

Based on ZF's next-generation central electric drive series, the CeTrax 2 dual is designed for heavy-duty commercial vehicles and perfectly matches the transmission space of conventional models, enabling automakers to support both combustion engines and electric drives on the same vehicle platform.

The CeTrax 2 dual is equipped with two integrated 800-volt silicon carbide (SiC) inverters capable of delivering 380 kW of power and 24,700 Nm of peak torque for a vehicle weighing up to 49 tonnes. The three-speed gearbox with two electronic shift actuators not only improves energy efficiency, but also enables smooth acceleration, quiet and emission-free operation.

Prof. Dr. Peter Gutzmer, editor of Springer Nature, presented the CeTrax 2 dual electric drive system to Frank Discher, Head of Media & Content Communications at ZF's Commercial Vehicle Solutions division.

Bielefeld plant: "Cradle to Cradle remanufacturing".

Following the "cradle-to-cradle" circular economy standard, the Bielefeld plant specializes in the remanufacturing of powertrain modules for automotive manufacturers and the global aftermarket. The plant reworks old transmission clutches or torque converters so that they can be reapplied to cars. Clutches need to be replaced every two to three years on average, and the remanufacturing process at ZF's Bielefeld plant saves up to 90 percent in parts and energy, conserving resources while reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the production process.
