It is reported that the heron is a national second-class protected animal, listed in the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species, and has a strong sense of choice for the ecological environment. From April to June every year, the heron breeding season is the "ecological test paper" of environmental quality, and its population can objectively reflect the changes in the ecological environment.
In recent years, Heshui County has strengthened the protection of the ecological environment, solidly promoted the comprehensive management of the rural environment, carried out tree planting and green protection, ecological afforestation, and continuously strengthened the management of the river chief system and the forest chief system, which effectively promoted the improvement of the ecological environment and attracted a large number of herons to come to inhabit and breed.
