China has set a target of peaking carbon emissions by 2030. According to the IEA's analysis, 40% of carbon emissions come from electricity production. In China, electricity accounts for 45% of total emissions. Ge Qun, co-founder and chairman of Weijing Energy Storage, believes that in order to effectively reduce the carbon emissions of electricity, it is necessary to shift the energy structure to new energy, fundamentally change the production structure of electricity, and change from carbon and coal to new energy.
Among them, energy storage is a key bottleneck to solve the larger-scale application of new energy. In Ge's view, in order to achieve the goal of carbon peaking, the contribution of renewable energy to the grid should be increased to 39%. This means that close to four trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity must come from non-fossil energy sources. "In order for new energy to be truly accepted by enterprises and the public, we must consider its price comparison with existing fossil fuels and reduce the cost of new energy sources as much as possible."
Through technology iteration and industry-wide efforts, Weijing Energy Storage hopes to reduce the LCOE of energy storage and new energy production to the same or even lower level than coal power. This is not only the dream of Weijing Energy Storage, but also the vision of the industry. "Just as the logistics industry improves efficiency through automatic sorting and intelligent scheduling, we hope to further promote the intelligence of the power grid under the premise of existing manual adjustment and scheduling, combined with AI artificial intelligence algorithms, and ultimately achieve the ultimate cost reduction."
At present, the company's goal is to reduce the cost of energy storage to two cents through the joint efforts of the whole industry, so that new energy + energy storage will become the safest and most reliable clean energy in the next decade, and the whole society will be willing to use more economical and greener new energy.
