At first glance, it doesn't seem to be anything special, isn't it just a small escort with a displacement of more than 2,000 tons, and compared with the capital ships of 056 and 054B, the tonnage is not a little smaller.
But! Let's listen to me one by one, this "not amazing" experimental ship has a lot of articles in it!
Let's take a look at its resume first.
As you can see from the photos, it adopts a very avant-garde, sci-fi design, and the overall lines are simple and smooth, like the combination of Sweden's "Visby" class stealth frigate and our Type 054B frigate, which belongs to the typical stealth frigate design road.
But the strange thing is that the tonnage of this new ship is obviously much smaller than that of 054B, and it is close to the tonnage of 056A, is it a bit out of place? Don't worry, let's move on.
In general, the firepower configuration is not not not strong.
But where is the most important point? Notice that the new ship does not have a traditional chimney? Yes, you read that right, it uses all-electric propulsion! This is currently the world's most advanced ship power technology, and even the U.S. "Zumwalt"-class destroyers have just begun to use all-electric propulsion.
Therefore, based on the above characteristics, we can reasonably speculate that this is likely to be an experimental ship used to test and verify various new technologies, although the tonnage is not large, but there are a lot of "black technologies" hidden in it.
First of all, it adopts an all-electric propulsion system, probably to comprehensively test the reliability, power, energy efficiency ratio and other key indicators of the electric propulsion system, and accumulate data and experience for the new main combat ships in the future.
Maybe this new gun will be popularized and applied on capital ships such as 052D, 055, and 075 in the future.
In addition, stealth design, new electronic systems, advanced materials, etc., also need to be tested in actual sea conditions, so as to accumulate key technologies for the development of a new generation of destroyers.
Therefore, the significance of this new frigate is far more than just an experimental ship, it is more like a "smaller version" of the future cutting-edge ships, carrying the Navy's expectations and layout of new technologies.
Don't look at its small size, its technical content is not low at all, and it may be the "rising star" of the future navy! Therefore, sometimes we can't just look at the surface, but also look at the inside, a seemingly ordinary experimental ship, behind which may hide the development layout of the Navy in the next ten years.
