Shooting experience

Unlike Fujifilm's X-T5 or X100 series, the X-T double-digit series is also equipped with a fully automatic paddle and a body flash.

In the actual shot, we found that the parameters given by the automatic mode are quite easy to use, and as you can see from the comparison chart below, the automatic mode will shoot the metering according to the subject.

Equipped with the high-speed image processing engine "X-Processor 5" of next-generation Fujifilm cameras, the intelligent object detection function is also added, and the focus is accurate and fast, which meets expectations, and the control is very safe.

In Auto automatic mode, 14 scene modes are also automatically recognized, with a high degree of recognition, and the corresponding scene is automatically matched for the user, making it easier to obtain appropriate parameters and effects.

The flash's automatic transmission also has a good strategy, with a soft light ratio, which can be used immediately when you turn it off, and you can rest assured that it will automatically fill in the light.

Performance upgrades

The X-T50 is not only easy to shoot, but also unambiguous in its own performance. Thanks to the X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR sensor, which is the same as the X-T5, the number of pixels has also soared from 26.1 million in the previous generation to 40.2 million pixels.

High pixels can get a more detailed picture, and it can also be more convenient for post-secondary composition.

The high pixel can also use the digital increase function, which supports 1.4x and 2.0x.

The weight is still very restrained, and the body of 389 grams is bareweight, making it difficult for you to imagine that it has such performance. You can hang it on your body at will without any burden, and it is very convenient to carry it around.

The size and weight are similar to those of the X100VI, but the X-T50 can be replaced, so you can install a more suitable lens to shoot the corresponding picture.

It supports up to 8 mechanical shutter shots per second and 20 frames per second electronic shutter continuous shooting, which is very suitable for shooting some dynamic poses and capturing the most natural moments.

The addition of five-axis image stabilization on the camera body greatly improves the shooting yield, and the low-speed shutter test can refer to the theoretical test later.

The body stabilization also makes the X-T50 video shooting experience to a higher level, this time the X-T50 can turn on IBIS body image stabilization + DIS digital image stabilization at the same time, plus the image stabilization mode is enhanced, and the handheld recording also has a very good stabilization effect.

When it comes to video shooting experience, the X-T50's video specifications have skyrocketed with the sensor. It supports up to 6.2K at 30 fps, 4K oversampled at 30 fps, 4K at 60 fps, and 1080P240 fps with a maximum bitrate of 360Mbps, and the video specifications are exactly the same as X-T5

Theory test

▋ Photo resolution test

The X-T50 uses the "X-TransTM CMOS5 HR" sensor, and the 40.2 million pixels are really not covered. And the following figure still only uses the JPG chart, its 36 lines are very clear and sharp, 38 lines can basically be distinguished, and even up to 40 lines can see the separation between lines and lines. This is basically one of the best resolution APS-C sensors we've ever tested.

▋ Video resolution test

We used the F-log curve, ISO500, and F5.6 aperture to shoot samples of the X-T50 high-resolution video specifications, and compared the screenshots to zoom in.

6.2K and oversampled 4K still have a significant improvement in clarity for the same 4K output. If you can, you can still consider using a higher resolution specification if you want to achieve clarity.

▋ Video high-sensitivity test

It can be seen that the X-T50 has an ISO within 3200, and the effects are fully usable. If you really need to use the 6400 light sensitivity, you may need to do some noise reduction.

Pretty! Good! Fujifilm X-T50 experience and theory test

▋ Video tolerance test

In the forgiveness test, select the 4K 59.94P video format under H.265 encoding and open the F-Log2 curve with a basic ISO of 1000. Pull the grayscale bar of plus or minus 5 stops of exposure back to normal exposure.

Detail is visible all the way up to +4EV in overexposed areas, and loss of detail in the highlights at +5EV.

In the underexposed part, slight noise starts to appear on -2EV, and -EV5 has a greater impact on noise, and contrast is reduced.

Overall, the X-T50's latitude is between -4 EV and +4 EV when shooting with the F-Log2 curve. In actual shooting, we still need to try to control the light ratio, and if we pursue details, we can slightly underexpose a little.

▋ Stabilization test

The Fujifilm X-T50 brings 5-axis in-body image stabilization, which improves the image yield and improves image quality in low light by slowing down the shutter speed and giving more exposure to the ISO, which is especially important for APS-C sensor machines. We tried to shoot with a 56mm (84mm full-frame equivalent without OIS) lens with the camera body in hand, and gradually slowed down the shutter speed from 1/30 of a second, and still achieved a stable and clear image until 1/4 of a second. It wasn't until 1/2 of the second that the blur began to appear for the first time.

▋ Charging efficiency

After testing, the charging power of the X-T50 is stable at about 7.34W, and it uses the same NP-W126S battery as the previous generation, which can be fully charged in about an hour and a half. It should be noted that the X-T50 does not support charging while charging, and when the power cable is plugged in, it will stop charging the battery, and you need to plug and unplug the charging cable to start charging again after powering off. The charging equipment needs to support PD, PPS and other protocols.

Review

Compared with the previous generation, the X-T50 can be said to be a qualitative leap, not only upgrading the sensor and processor, which greatly improves the shooting performance, but also greatly improves the shooting experience with the addition of body stabilization. Compared with other Fujifilm series, the X-T50 has an intimate upgraded one-button automatic mode, which makes daily shooting extremely easy.

At present, the unique film simulation dial of the whole series allows photographers to have a more convenient sense of color style control, so that the shooting is more immersed in recording the beautiful picture itself. The film style can also save the time-consuming and laborious post-production, no longer take pictures for a while, and the crematorium in the later stage.

Merit:

1. The improvement of the sensor and processor, and the addition of five-axis image stabilization have greatly upgraded the shooting performance

2. Better Auto gear and film simulation dial greatly improve the photography experience

3. Lightweight and compact, the lens can be replaced, and the retro appearance of the small steel cannon is good-looking and can be played

Shortcoming:

1. The body will be slightly heated after using it for a long time
