The breeze blows, and the waves of wheat are raised. Guo Yangwei, the person in charge of the farm, stood on the ridge of the field, his face filled with the joy of a bumper harvest.
"This year, we planted 6,000 acres of wheat on the farm, and now is the critical moment for harvesting, we have invested in a number of harvesters, each of which is expected to harvest 30 to 40 acres a day, and can harvest about 200 acres today, which is progressing very smoothly, and with the help of good weather, the wheat harvest will be fully completed this week."
The wheat varieties harvested this time mainly include "Chuanmai 104", "Chuanmai 88" and "Mianmai 902", which have the characteristics of strong disease resistance, strong lodging resistance and excellent quality.
It is expected that the yield of wheat per mu will reach about 1,000 catties, an increase of 50 catties per mu compared with last year.
Once harvested, the wheat will be sent to the drying center at Weixuan Family Farms for drying and storage operations.
The drying center has 31 drying equipment, each of which has a daily drying capacity of up to 30 tons. At present, 10,000 tons of wheat have been dried, and 15,000 tons are expected to be dried by the end of May, an increase of 3,000 tons from last year.
These drying equipment not only meet the drying needs of local wheat, but also attract farmers from Pidu, Deyang, Xindu and other places to come to dry wheat.
Guo Yangwei said that 50 trucks had been transported to dry the wheat that day, and finally the wheat would be sent to grain processing enterprises and granaries in various places.
A good harvest is expected every year

Zhang Jian, the relevant person in charge of the Xinjin District Agriculture and Rural Bureau, introduced that the wheat planting area in Xinjin District this year will reach 45,000 mu, an increase of 6,000 mu compared with 2023, and the total output is expected to reach 14,400 tons, an increase of 2,800 tons from last year, and it is expected that the harvest of wheat in the whole region will be fully completed by the end of May.
